1962 Ford Galaxie 500 on 2040-cars

Year:1962 Mileage:5800
Location:

Providence, Rhode Island, United States

Providence, Rhode Island, United States

Up for grabs is a SUPER clean Ford Galaxie 500 XL Hard Top Kustom Low Rider.. All 4 windows roll down to expose the amazing look of the hard top ( no post) This is a Low rider that turns heads everywhere it goes. Its straight as an arrow, California car.. No rot or rust that I have found anywhere. This low low is set up with 2 chrome Viair pumps, Bagged on all 4 corners, Astro Supreme wheels with brand new pinner Hankook radials, Bellflower tips, 4 switches with psi indicators for left and right pumps. Has a FRESH 352 FE that has been rebuilt and only 5800 miles on it since the rebuild, no leaks or smoking at all. Doors are shaved and has, mild not wild, very nicely done pinstripping on the deck lid and on the hood. Custom silver interior. Custom steering wheel, Custom Grille, Faux Appleton spotlights, Paint is a very nice relaxing silver base with green topcoat and cleared over.. Roof is silver but could use a nice new coat of clear.. I was gonna use the silver base and panel it with heavy metal flake. Has a CD player in the glove box in good working condition. This is not in show car condition with $20k paint.. but expect to gather a big crowd around it everywhere you go. Transmission is very strong. Beautiful chrome bumpers. I have driven this car confidently 200+ miles runs.. I will also throw in a brand new Edlebrock Intake and Nice Finned MT valve covers.. The only issues I have seen and their not really issues at all to me, but couple of the dash knobs are missing and when its " laying frame" you have to put it in the neutral position. This is due to the Neutral Safety Switch position as the car lays on the ground. And only other thing is a very small leak in one of the hoses and very small leak in the 5gal tank very very easily fixed, as I was gonna upgrade to .. Very cheap and easy fixes. Wasnt a deal killer for me when I purchased it, just never got around to fixing. Small almost out of site, scrape on right front corner of the bumper, I believe the previous owner in California pulled in somewhere with the car too low and bottomed out.. and lastly the e-brake pedal is depressed all the way to the floor, It appears p.o bypassed the e-brake.. again not an issue for me cause I lay frame when I park and trust me, car isnt moving anywhere!! Please bid in confidence, DO NO BID IF YOUR NOT SURE.. Last thing I want is Tire kickers.. Please have positive feedback when bidding. I will not pay for shipping but will work with buyer very and do everything I can in my power to help load the car.. I have listed this to the best of my ability. If your offering trades i would only be interested in 1927-1940 Fords ( coupes or roadster) with equal value.. This vehicle will also be up for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. The reserve is set lower than what the car is worth. Thanks and Happy Bidding!!!

Watch Ken Block's scary Rally America crash from inside the cockpit

Wed, 19 Feb 2014

Ken Block became famous for his series of Gymkhana videos, but he's a real racer in his own right. Block has competed many rounds in the FIA World Rally Championship and also rallied in the 2013 Rally America series. He nearly won that latter title last year - if not for a massive crash in the final event of the season.
Block and his co-driver Alex Gelsomino went into the Lake Superior Performance Rally needing a win to take the championship. However, missing a clump of dirt on the side of the road and one little word in the pace notes was all it took to catapult Block's Fiesta off the road and into a tumbling accident. Block says his initial reaction was anger because the crash came out of nowhere.
For 2014, Block is joining the FIA World Rallycross Championship for at least three rounds. He'll drive a Ford Fiesta for the Hoonigan Racing Division at the Norwegian, French and Turkish events of the 12-round championship. Former Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will also compete in the series.

Ford announces four recalls, 1.4M vehicles affected

Thu, 29 May 2014

Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013.
Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though.
"Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software."

Ford to auction Mustang Cobra Jet prototype for charity [w/video]

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Prototypes developed by major automakers typically remain in said company's custody, but every once in a while, one trickles out into private hands. And that's just what we have here. Ford is donating a one-of-a-kind factory prototype for the 2014 Mustang Cobra Jet that will be auctioned off later this month by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 mated to a T4 competition gearbox, this rare Cobra Jet prototype includes a wheelie bar, chromoly roll cage, Weld wheels, three-link rear suspension, racing brakes, 9-inch rear axle and more. It's painted in a unique satin orange with reflective gray striping scheme, bears the serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1 and is fully ready for NHRA competition on the drag strip.
To be offered with no reserve on Saturday, September 28, 2013, the Cobra Jet prototype's winning bidder will also receive tutelage at Roy Hill's Drag Racing School in Sophia, NC, along with tours of the Ford Product Development Center, Ford Racing headquarters and Ford Design Studios with Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak. Scope out the video and details below for what could be the ultimate Mustang experience for a good cause.
