1962 Ford Galaxie 500 on 2040-cars

I have a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500. I restored it over the winter. It has a 352 Big Block(not original), with a 2 barrel carburetor and a Cruise-O-Matic transmission. Power steering and power brakes. It's column shifted. She runs and drives beautifully and last year she was my daily driver. All the lights, tail lights, and blinkers work. The brakes are good, tires are REALLY good(about 80-85% tread left). The tranny shifts great. No leaks from anywhere, but the power steering pump is a little whiny. I'm slowly building ambition to put a new one on it. The paint is fresh, but it's not great. It's good, but there is some slight orange peel. All of the rust has been cut out and I welded in new sheet metal. The wheels and bumpers have been powder coated. The seats were reupholstered less than 3 months ago. The dash was repainted. New carpet. New headliner. The door panels are the ones I got with the car, they're not original. The armrests are still the original brown. The steering wheel is obviously not original, it's a classic Grant wheel I believe. It just makes it feel like you're driving an old hot rod. I disconnected the horn because I absolutely hate the sound of them. The grille and rear fascia trim were painted black, it gives the car a really nice and aggressive look. I do have the rest of the trim the goes on the wheel wells and on the bottoms behind the rear wheels. All the gauges, dummy lights, air/heat, defrost, wipers, emergency brake, and dome light(I unpugged that though) work. I also bought a new USA-230 Radio for it and a kick panel kit that has speakers in them. I also pulled the rear window to put a new seal in it and tint the window(5%) and the side windows have 35% tint on them. There are exactly 4 things this car doesn't have to make it considered completely restored. 1. A trim piece that goes inside behind the rear seat at the bottom of the headliner. All it does is cover the bottom of the headliner where it attaches to the hooks. 2. A trim piece that goes along the bottom sides of the front seat to hide a couple brackets. 3. I don't have a lens for the dome light. It's just the bulb. 4. There is no gas pedal. Just the arm for it. It honestly never bothered me, but I know it should have lol I am negotiable on the price. It's not firm at all. I am also interested in trading for a Harley, preferably a softail or bagger. I would also do a half trade/half cash. Let me know what you got or any questions. For the second time in my life, I'm staring at an engine in the back of a truck with no concept of how to get it safely into the garage by my lonesome. The first time this happened, I dragged home a $300 International 345 V8 in the back of my Scout Terra only to discover that the bounds of my manliness terminated well before my ability to muscle that 800-pound cast iron block out of the pickup bed.
William Clay Ford Sr. dead at 88
Sun, 09 Mar 2014William Clay Ford, retired vice chairman of Ford Motor Company and the last surviving grandchild of company founder Henry Ford, died this morning after a bout with pneumonia. He was 88.
Ford spent 57 years with his grandfather's company, joining the board of directors in 1948 before graduating from college. Ford also held a position as chairman of the design committee, as well as the chairman of the executive committee and vice chairman of the Board of Directors during his tenure with the company. In a 2013 Detroit Free Press story, retired CFO Allan Gilmour said Ford had an eye for design, and was once able to pick out when a fiberglass model of a Ford Contour was asymmetrical, off by an inch on one side. He retired and assumed the position of director emeritus in 2005.
"My father was a great business leader and humanitarian who dedicated his life to the company and the community," said Bill Ford, Jr., Ford's current executive chairman. "He also was a wonderful family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, yet he will continue to inspire us all."
Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally lands on Google board
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally often referred to the Blue Oval as a technology company when he led the automaker. Now he'll be offering guidance to a different kind of technology firm: Google.
Mulally was appointed to Google's board of directors July 9, and late Tuesday, it was announced that he will serve on the company's audit committee. The veteran executive led Ford from September 2006 until he retired in June, succeeded by Mark Fields.
While Mulally will act as a board member - rather than in a managerial role - his presence adds credibility to Google's recently announced plans to produce an autonomous car. The ambitious program calls for 100 prototypes to begin testing later this summer. Production of the car is rumored to be in collaboration with a Detroit area performance company, Roush.
