2013 Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 SUV

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

Raptor, Excursion, Texas And Hennessey
Each of those words are synonyms for big and bold - combine all four and you've got one of the largest, most powerful and robust street-going sport utility vehicles in the world.
John Hennessey is a Texas-based tuner known for creating some of the fastest and most capable cars on the planet. Over the past two decades, machines like the Viper Venom 550, Ford GT 1000 Twin Turbo, HPE 700 LS9 Camaro and the almighty Venom GT have emerged from the Hennessey Performance garage. And those are just the celebrated flagships; the company has modified thousands of other street cars including those from Audi, Bentley, Cadillac, Ferrari, Ford, Porsche and Toyota, to name a few.

Amelia Island 2013: 50 years of the Ferrari-slaying Ford GT40

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Originally developed with the sole purpose of being a Ferrari rival to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ford GT40 became a prominent racing machine in the 1960s in both Europe and the US. Not wanting to leave such an important car out of the fun, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance also took time out from its other celebrations to recognize the 50-year anniversary of the GT40.
Over its short lifespan, the GT40 was offered in a handful of configurations, but the classic short-tailed (Mk I and Mk II) bodystyles were well represented... especially in Gulf livery. James Glickenhaus (of Ferrari P4/5 fame) had his bright yellow Mk IV in the field, and there were several others in this bodystyle, including one that has seen plenty of time on the track judging by its chipped-up nose.
As a fitting statement for the car's lengthy racing history, GT40 Chassis Number 1075 won this year's Concours de Sport award. This car took home the checkered flag at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969, and racked up a total of six wins in just 11 races.

New UAW boss Williams talks tough, vows 'no more concessions'

Sun, 08 Jun 2014

Dennis Williams, the newly elected president of the UAW, had some tough words for American automakers in his inauguration speech at the 2014 UAW Convention, striking down the possibility of any additional concessions from the 400,000-strong union.
"No more concessions. We are tired of it. Enough is enough," Williams said during his speech. UAW employees have not received a raise in nearly 10 years, according to Reuters.
Considering the recent strong results for Ford, Chrysler and General Motors, the union's demands are likely to carry a bit more weight in next year's negotiations. And considering Williams' tough stance, we could be in for some fireworks once negotiations commence.

DESCRIPTION
We are delighted to offer this 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible finished in factory code correct Rangoon Red (J) over original all Red Vinyl interior (35)! It comes loaded with features that start with the powerful Z-code 390ci V8-4bbl engine producing 300 factory-rated horsepower, Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission, and 3.00:1 conventional rear axle ratio. Additional options include power steering, power brakes, original AM radio, windshield washer system, full spoke wheel spinner hubcaps, 1” whitewall tires, power convertible top, factory dual outside mirrors, and more!

This example was treated to a complete repaint in September 2012 with new door weather stripping, and window glass felts, and re-chromed front & rear bumper, all interior windshield trim, dash bezels, rearview mirror, steering wheel horn ring, and sun visor mounting hardware! Mechanically, the car received a new temperature sending unit, oil pressure switch, left exhaust manifold, brake light switch, valve cover gaskets, oil change with new filter, fuel pump, and carburetor rebuild. This wonderful Galaxie 500 convertible was built in the Louisville, KY and staying the Bristol, TN area for much of its life prior to going to Florida in approximately 1993. It later made it way to Sun Lakes, Arizona with the same owner of nearly 20 years! It shows only 91,146 miles on the odometer today, which is quite likely accurate and original to the car, but we insufficient records to support a true mileage claim and will be selling the car mileage exempt.

It will come with service and ownership records dating back to 1993, matching spare tire, original jack, lug wrench, and convertible top boot cover. The trunk has been fitted with a molded carpet mat with rubber backing making for a nice, finished appearance. We have noted this car was finished in the factory on December 5th, 1961 and bears November date-coded sheet metal throughout! This supports the car has retained nearly all of its original body panels without major damage to rust or an accident! Moreover, we can clearly see the original factory chassis VIN stamp on the passenger front frame rail. This example is quite sharp and would make for a perfect weekend cruiser and modest car to show locally! They are becoming harder and harder to find, and restoring one is growing exceedingly expensive due to parts availability! Please feel free to call with additional questions, or to schedule an opportunity to see this car in person. Thanks for looking!
