Up for sale 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible. My youngest son and I purchased this car 6 years ago from a 94 year old widow in Carey, Ohio. It was in her garage and had been sitting many years and did not run. Her husband bought the car over 35 years ago to fix up. The story goes from his widow was shortly after he purchased the car he had it repainted in the original black color. The car was brought home from the paint shop and put up on blocks in the garage. Before he could proceed with finishing the car he became ill and passed away. My son and I wanted a project to do together so we purchased the car here on ebay. The car was dirty but complete except the original canvas top was in tatters. After we trailered the car home we did a thorough inspection. We removed what was left of the old carpet and were pleasantly surprised to see the floor pans were solid. We cleaned them and painted them with Rustoleum. Underneath the car was heavily undercoated when new. The frame is very nice and solid. The trunk pan is also. We did find a small amount of rust under the right taillight inside the trunk and on the left front inner fender under where the windshield washer bag goes. The rest of the car is very nice. The 35 year old paint was not perfect but too nice to re-do again. The old paint was wet sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. There are a few small paint chips and scratches but no dings or dents in the paint. We also did the following:
Installed all new brakes including all new drums and power brake booster.
Installed a new quiet dual exhaust system.
  Installed 5 new tires.
Did a valve job on the heads and planed the exhaust manifolds.
New White convertible top with an all new weatherstrip kit. The top frame was cleaned and painted. New Red top boot and well liner.
New carpet and new door panels.
NOS clock, steering wheel, shift lever, turn signal lever, shifter indicator, outside door handles, Galaxie 500 fender emblems, inside rear view mirror, antenna, painted headlight bezels, horn ring assembly with emblem
NORS hood and trunk letters, hood and trunk emblems, outside mirrors, taillight lenses, headlight door seals, trunk seal, trunk mat set, sunvisor pivots, fuel tank sending unit, inside armrests,
New tinted windshield,New heater core and New heater resistor for the blower motor speeds
  New Holley 4BBL carburetor
New battery and tune up, new hoses and belts, radiator removed and cleaned and checked
Fuel tank removed, cleaned and sealed
  New power steering hoses
  New wiper blades
Rechromed front and rear bumpers, all of the inside windshield trim, taillight frames, headlight frames, armrest bases
Instrument cluster housing rechromed and painted the correct red and black
  Transmission completely rebuilt.
The seat covers are ok but could use new ones. The car starts right up and the blue cold light comes on. The top works perfectly. There are no leaks anywhere on this car. The car is a pleasure to drive. Everything on this car works even the back up lights. My son and I have enjoyed this car very much but it is time to turn it over to a new owner. I have tried to describe everything I could think of. This is a very nice Galaxie convertible with a nice color combination. Thanks for your interest.

2013 Shelby 1000 unleashes its 1,200 horsepower ahead of NY show reveal

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

True story: Last fall, I had the opportunity to spend a week with Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500 - the Blue Oval's factory Mustang with 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. It's an amazing beast, to be sure. I'm not sure if it was Michigan's damp streets strewn with potholes and wet leaves, but at no point did I ever say to myself, "You know, Ford is on to a really good thing here, but what it really needs is about twice the power." And yet, for people in warmer climes with infrastructure in better nick - or for those whose muscle cars live their lives out on the track, there's apparently sufficient demand to warrant just such a beast.
Quick studies will recall that Shelby American launched its 1000 last year to commemorate its 50th anniversary, but it is returning to the New York Auto Show with a fresh version based on the 2013 GT500 I drove. The 2013 Shelby 1000 whips up 1,200 horsepower on pump gas thanks to beefed-up forced induction, engine internals and cooling. Wisely, it also incorporates an adjustable suspension and big brake package to make sure those ponies have the best chance being safely deployed to the ground.
What price the world's most powerful "production" muscle car? $154,995 for starters - donor GT500 not included. What, no convertible variant?

Entry-level F-150 now offers SuperCrew, Sport Package

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

Ford has made a few notable tweaks to the lower end of its F-150 lineup, giving customers a more affordable version of the four-door SuperCrew body style. The popular SuperCrew could previously only be had on XLT models and above, but Ford has announced that 2014 F-150s with the base STX trim can get the more versatile body.
The STX SuperCrew brings the price of a four-door F-150 down from $34,525 to $33,145. Like the XLT SuperCrew, the STX will be available with the choice of a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed, while a 5.0-liter V8 can replace the base 3.7-liter V6 for $4,425. Ford has not released pricing on the different bed lengths yet, but opting for the 6.5-foot bed on the XLT raises the price $1,240 and forces buyers into the 5.0-liter V8. We'd expect a similar arrangement on the STX.
The other big news for fans of affordable pickups is the addition of an STX Sport Package on the base-level truck. It adds 20-inch wheels, black exterior accents, black-and-gray cloth seats and decals on the truck's box. The Sport Package is available on all three of the STX's body styles, with Ford listing the price as $980 with current discounts.

Hot Wheels Ford Transit Connect is worth more if we keep it in the box

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

If the 2014 Transit Connect is anything like it's utile current-generation predecessor, and we suspect it is, it will undoubtedly be one of the most functional vehicles in North America. Ford has used the occasion of SEMA to turn the TC in to things that both make use of that functionality, and occasionally sort of wreck it in the name of good old-fashioned fun. The Ford Hot Wheels Transit Connect most certainly falls into that second category.
Most TC owners might cite the vehicle's massive cargo capacity as its top positive trait, though in the case of this wide-bodied Transit said space has been sapped in the name of a 55-inch television screen, a massive Hot Wheels drag strip (continuing a popular theme at SEMA this year) and custom storage for dozens of models from one's personal hot wheels collection. Designers have also plucked the grippy Recaro seats from the Focus ST, and thrown in a pair of 18-inch tablet screens for connectivity on the go.
Naturally, the Transit Connect wouldn't be an appropriate SEMA vehicle, or Hot Wheels name-bearer, if it weren't wearing an eye-popping appearance package. Additional homage to the Focus RS can be found in the blazing blue and orange front fascia and bumpers, while 20-inch wheels make sure the wider (four-inches in front and six-inches in the back) Transit Connect sits just right. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder-engine that powers the Hot Wheels TC ensures that the concept is more show than go, but you probably had that pegged from your first look, anyway.
