Ford Galaxie "custom" Two-door Sedan 427 on 2040-cars
Glendive, Montana, United States
This Custom 2-door Sedan R-code is by far the rarest of the 1964 (factory produced) 427/4spd cars, w/less than 15 built. 1964 R-code Galaxies - hundreds built. 1964 Galaxie "Lightweight" - 100 built. I have done my research and in 5 years, I have only found one other road worthy Custom R-code (currently being restored) & 1 story from a past owner (his car being MIA). My car is the only 1964 Custom R-code listed on the 427 Registry online (check it out online - 427GalaxieRegistry.com). The Custom Sedan was a bare bones factory drag car & again more rare than the Lightweight cars! Perhaps by offering my car on eBay - a couple more original 1964 R-code Sedans will surface. * I am giving a very brief description here - "serious" buyers are encouraged to contact me directly for a full run down of this extremely rare car. - 4 year complete restoration - period correct "street/strip" look- new paint - org. Guardsman Blue- new interior - org. Med. Blue- correct date coded (org. to the car) 427 solid lifter motor - two 4 barrel carbs (Holley) - motor was removed & completely gone thru - 4 spd Toploader re-built (Hurst shifter)- all new front/rear suspension (factory) & adjustable gas (drag) shocks- 4:11 rear end - all new brakes- Tear Drop hood (I have the org. factory hood)- period correct 3" exhaust - Crites headers & cut-outs- period correct bias-ply tires (the rears are Monarch "street" slicks from the 1970's which are in perfect cond!)- period correct dash mounted drag tach * She runs perfect - is always stored indoors - and of course turns heads everywhere she goes (nothing is more beautiful sounding than a solid lifter FE motor!

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has a bit of a dyno issue
Tue, 28 May 2013We're of the mind that each and every dyno should come with Murphy's Law painted in big, visible letters down the side. For every ten successful dyno runs out there, it seems there's one where events to horribly wrong. Take, for example, the video below. The clip shows what happens when a Ford Shelby GT500 and a mobile dyno have a bit of a disagreement at the Performance Expo 24 in Sherbrooke, Quebec. We won't spoil the results for you, but we will say there's some substantial carnage involved.
It's unclear just how much damage ensues from the dust up or whether anyone was harmed in the incident, but from the looks of things, everyone made it out without serious injury. If only we could say the same for the machines involved. Check out the video below.
Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue
Fri, 15 Aug 2014Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.
Ford cranks up '32 Ford body production
Tue, 14 Jan 2014If you're going to build your own hot rod, you'll want to start with a '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe. Favored by American servicemen returning from World War II, the '32 Ford remains the very icon of the hot rod to this day. The trouble is there were only so many of them made in the first place, and finding one today can be a challenge. That's where reproduction models come in.
The aftermarket is replete with companies that will sell you a fiberglass body in the form of a '32 Ford coupe, but quality can be hit or miss. So to help meet demand among hot rod builders and enthusiasts, Ford has teamed up with United Pacific Industries to offer officially licensed body shells.
Announced at the SEMA show in November, the '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe body is made from stamped steel according to original specifications from original machinery where possible or reproduced machinery built to the same original specifications where necessary. The bodies are ready to accept vintage powertrains or crate motors from the Ford Racing catalog, and join the 9,000 other parts offered in the Ford Component Sales catalog - including similar reproduction bodies available for the 1965-70 Mustang and 1940 Ford Coupe. From there, the proverbial sky's the limit.
