1928 Ford Model A Roadster. Professional frame-off restoration of a VERY solid original Roadster by Spring Valley Restorations, Spring Valley, Mn., to a very exacting degree. Everything has been rebuilt to the best of my knowledge. Car runs-drives-stops like it came out of the factory originally. Car has had 121 miles put on it since restoration. Estate sale car, selling for my family which has owned the car since 1981. Dad bought the car in Minnesota, decided it was too nice to drive, parked it and bought another Model A to drive. Car has been carefully maintained in a dry garage ever since. Motor run regularly with fresh gasoline changed every year with fuel stabilizer added every winter to keep gas fresh. Motor turned over every two-three weeks when not being run. Backed back and forth in garage but never saw daylight in all these years! Paint finish still immaculate, enamel not lacquered  no checks and cracks over time that lacquer develops. Interior is like new. Tires still have nubs on the tread. Every seam is straight as a pin. I can't find evidence of bondo, using a refrigerator magnet, car is all Henry Ford steel. Top has some slight aging, a professional car detailer can probably clear that up. I didn't want to harm the paint with the wrong type of cleaner so I left it alone. This Roadster was built on Sept. 17, 1928 at the Ford Twin Cities Assy. Plant in St. Paul, Mn. Body stamp of 'TC527' Numbers matching car. Sold new to a Mr. Irhke in Pine Valley, Mn. at the end of Sept. 1928. Clear title. Many Model A's have had the motors swapped out over the years causing title problems. Not this car. All the car needs is to be enjoyed. Space does not permit us to keep the car, estate wills it be sold to highest bidder. People are dragging rotted out junk from abandoned farms and pouring tons of money into a correct restoration. Price a paint job alone today and see what THAT avenue of approach will cost you. It is staggering. Car sells if meets reasonable reserve. Please no e-mails asking what 'reserve' is I won't answer.

Watch live as Mark Fields is officially named Ford's next CEO

Thu, 01 May 2014

We've heard rumblings of a changing of the guard at Ford, and this live stream from The Blue Oval itself is set to confirm the rumors: Alan Mulally will be succeeded by the automaker's current Chief Operating Officer, Mark Fields.
Mulally, who is 68 years old, has served at the head of Ford for eight years, and his official retirement date will be July 1st, 2014. Fields, who is 53 this year, has been with Ford for 25 years and has been groomed to take the helm from Mulally for the last several of those years.
There's an official press release that you can read, but if you're more of a visual person, you're welcome to watch the live video feed of the announcement down below.

Hot Wheels Ford Transit Connect is worth more if we keep it in the box

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

If the 2014 Transit Connect is anything like it's utile current-generation predecessor, and we suspect it is, it will undoubtedly be one of the most functional vehicles in North America. Ford has used the occasion of SEMA to turn the TC in to things that both make use of that functionality, and occasionally sort of wreck it in the name of good old-fashioned fun. The Ford Hot Wheels Transit Connect most certainly falls into that second category.
Most TC owners might cite the vehicle's massive cargo capacity as its top positive trait, though in the case of this wide-bodied Transit said space has been sapped in the name of a 55-inch television screen, a massive Hot Wheels drag strip (continuing a popular theme at SEMA this year) and custom storage for dozens of models from one's personal hot wheels collection. Designers have also plucked the grippy Recaro seats from the Focus ST, and thrown in a pair of 18-inch tablet screens for connectivity on the go.
Naturally, the Transit Connect wouldn't be an appropriate SEMA vehicle, or Hot Wheels name-bearer, if it weren't wearing an eye-popping appearance package. Additional homage to the Focus RS can be found in the blazing blue and orange front fascia and bumpers, while 20-inch wheels make sure the wider (four-inches in front and six-inches in the back) Transit Connect sits just right. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder-engine that powers the Hot Wheels TC ensures that the concept is more show than go, but you probably had that pegged from your first look, anyway.

This is what a 3D-printed liquid metal Ford Torino looks like

Sat, 12 Oct 2013

Artist Ioan Florea has encapsulated a 1971 Ford Torino with 3-D-printed liquid metal transferred onto the car using technology that he developed, and the result is a stunningly shiny, seamless design.
"The surface has the highest coefficient of reflectivity never achieved before," Florea told us in an e-mail, using "nano-materials and nano-pigments that create an internal three-dimensional structure and dictate the polymer how to behave." Sure... We'll leave it to him to make any more 3-D-printed liquid metal-transferred art pieces.
Florea grew up in Romania, and the motivation behind picking the old Ford as his canvas came from his childhood memories of what an American car is - "big and wide and fascinating," he says - and the European name of the car itself, which it shares with an Italian city.
