Up for auction is this mostly original 1929 Model A 4 door sedan.  It has the original flat head 4 cyl. engine that starts easily and does not smoke. Idles smoothly.  It has a new leakless water pump, so it runs cool.  The tranny shifts smoothly.  The clutch is strong with no chattering.  The steering is nice and tight with no play.  THe guages all work along with the lights on high & low beam.  The tailights work, however, the horn does not blow.(Could be a ground problem) The throttle and spark advance work as they should.  The body of the car has older paint job with a few chips & little dings here and there, however, is very solid with no bondo or patch panels.  It is steel with the exception of the right front fender that is glass. (If  you didn't know it you would not be able to tell)  The glass is good with the exception of the drivers side glass that has a crack.  The doors close nicely.  The vinyl top looks new with no rips or holes.  It does not leak anywhere.  The tires are fairly new with good tread and no checking.  The rims have been redone and look neat with the red wheels and the black body.  The interior was redone years ago and looks nice.  It is clean and comfortable.  It could use new weather stripping overall.  This is a sound, good running, good braking, smooth steering old Ford.  This is not a show car, however, I would consider it a good parade car and a daily driver.  It has a nice, low, affordable, realistic reserve below $8K.  Email for my phone number to further discuss this car.  I encourage you to ask all questions before you bid on the car.  I am accessible and willing to discuss this car in further detail.  After you have won the bid of this car is no time to then ask questions.  So, please email any questions early and often. A $1000 non-refundable down payment is due with 24 hours of the end of the auction.  The balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction either in cash in person or wired to our bank account.  Any additional wiring fees for the buyer or the seller is the responsibility of the buyer. The balance will NOT be accepted in to PayPal.  The buyer is responsible for arrangement and payment of transportation or pickup of this vehicle.  It currently is stored in a garage and can remain there for up to 30 days to allow for pick-up or transportation..

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.

Ford F-150 bumps Camry from top of Cars.com American Made Index

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

With July 4th just around the corner, what better time could there be for Cars.com to announce that the Ford F-150 is the Most American car of 2013? This may be especially true since it was the Toyota Camry, a car produced by a company based in Japan, that had held the top spot from 2009 to 2012.
Cars.com compiles its Most American list by considering the amount of parts each vehicle uses that come from America, where it's final assembly takes place and how many units per year are sold. "While the assembly point and domestic parts content of the F-150 didn't change from 2012-2013, vehicle sales are responsible for bumping the F-150 to the top spot," according to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com.
As far as automakers go (as opposed to individual models), Toyota retains the top spot it held in 2012, with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford and Honda (in that order) rounding out the list. The motivation behind this list each year, according to Olsen, is "to help car shoppers understand that 'American-Made' extends beyond just the Detroit three" and because "a study we conducted in 2012 indicated that 25 percent of shoppers surveyed preferred to buy American."

2014 Roush Stage 3 Mustang

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Up until now, it's been some years since I managed to get behind the wheel of the hot Mustangs tuned by the folks at Roush Performance. My memories of those vehicles are fond, as the Roush up-fits usually make for better-driving examples of the iconic Ford pony, with better-tuned suspensions, excellent short-shift kits and, of course, huge additions of power. The wake-your-neighbors aural characteristics of these cars have been nothing short of outstanding, too.
But in the years since my last experience with the Roush formula, Ford's own development team has churned out some pretty potent 'Stangs. We currently live in a world where the Blue Oval will sell you a Mustang with 662 horsepower from the factory, and the recently departed Boss 302 remains one of the best Mustangs - and best sports coupes - the Autoblog crew has ever driven.
So with great-driving and hugely powerful Mustangs coming straight off the line at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant, does the Roush package still offer that extra special something to make it stand out? I spent a week with a Stage 3 coupe to find out.
