1929 Ford Model A Coupe Street Rod -- A Mechanically Modern & Sweet Ride on 2040-cars
Dunbar, Pennsylvania, United States
Up for your consideration is a restored 1929 Ford Model A Coupe. I purchased the car in a local barn and oversaw the restoration from the beginning, 5 years ago. What you see in this listing are current pictures of the restored car, with the original steel body and frame, fiberglass fenders, a Chevrolet 454 engine, and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. The car is very sound mechanically & electrically, and modern in many aspects. No corners were cut. Electric fuel pump, electric fan, Walker 3 core radiator, 2 catalytic converters, Holley carb (manual choke), HEI Distributor with vacuum advance, power disc brakes (front), drums (rear), powered trunk lid, chromed oil/trannsmission pan, transmission oil cooler, chromed alternator, GM steering column (tilt), Ford 8" rear end, 3:55 locker gear ratio, TOO MUCH TO LIST... The undercarriage of the car is nice; floors are new... Exterior-wise, the body was completely stripped and painted tinted orange primer surfacer (Dupont) and cleared; note that there are some chips in the door jamb area. Car has tinted glass and American Racing rims: 14" in front and 15" in rear. The only aspect of the car that needs attention is the interior; as you can see in the pictures, a complete interior job is needed.
This Model A has been babied; it lives in a garage and is equipped with quality parts. It is a sweet ride that is ready for driving and even showing. Not to brag, but I have won a number of trophies and turned quite a few heads. You can get in the car, turn the key, and take a trip in style. A perfectionist could repaint to their liking and install matching interior, then turn the key and take a trip in style. Title is clear in hand. While the actual miles are unknown, it has been 1,600 miles since the rebuild. The car passed PA inspection. The car is located in Dunbar, PA and can be shown by appointment. Please email any questions. While I want to sell the car and find it a good home, I do not appreciate low-ballers and tire-kickers. The parts on this car alone are well worth what I am asking. Car is sold AS IS; no warranties or returns. A $500 non-refundable Paypal deposit is required within 48 hours of auction close; the remainder is required within 7 days of auction close via cash in hand or cashier's check (the car will not leave until check has cleared). Buyer is responsible for picking up or shipping the car. |

Ford Australia launches Falcon GT F 351, last of its line [w/video]
Sun, 15 Jun 2014It's always best to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and Ford Performance Vehicles is doing just that in Australia with the Falcon GT F 351. It's the most powerful road car the Aussie performance brand has ever made with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 471 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 420 pound-feet of torque. It's joined by the FPV Pursuit Ute with the same powerplant tuned to 422 hp and 402 lb-ft. Sadly, the last F in this Falcon's name stands for Final.
The GT F 351 is a monumental way to go out, though. It harkens back to the old days of Aussie muscle Fords, and the 351kw output is meant to reference the classic Falcon GT and its 351-cubic-inch V8. In addition to the massive power, the F has the improved suspension from the R-Spec model and Brembo brake calipers.
FPV is building just 500 GT F sedans for Australia and 50 more for New Zealand, plus 120 Pursuit Utes. They feature a blacked-out hood and black stripes over the hood and sides, plus gloss black accents around the headlights, door handles and mirrors.
Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy
Tue, 07 May 2013With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.
Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern
Fri, 09 Dec 2011Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.
