1929 Ford Model A Ratrod Hotrod Flathead V8 Powered With No Reserve on 2040-cars
Millville, New Jersey, United States
This little ratrod pickup was built from a 2 door sedan many years ago. It has a 1951 Ford F1 flathead V8 engine & steering box. It runs good, yard drives and stops if you pump the hydraulic brakes. Lighys & gauges work except gas gauge & speedometer. More recent new parts include re-cored heavy duty radiator, Smitty dual glasspacks, leakless water pumps, Bubbas SB Chevy points distributor, under bed gas tank & high amp 12V battery. Engine has good oil pressure, no smoke, runs cool with an electric fan controlled by a manual switch. Mechanical & electric fuel pumps supply the fuel & very early GM alternator & regulator keep battery charged.Starts right up but rear engine seal drips a little oil. All glass is good & door windows wind up & down. Seat appears to be an old school bus seat in good condition but there is no other interior. Top is chopped and roof is filled.Make no mistake, this is an old ratrod but could probably be road worthy with a weekend worth of work. Clear NJ title for 1929 Ford Pickup in my name.Sold As Is, buyer must arrange shipping & vehicle will not be released until funds clear My Bank. This is a no reserve auction, so please have funds available & ask any questions before bidding. Local inspection welcome. Thanks.

Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams
Sun, 11 Aug 2013As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.
Michigan museum offers Model T driving classes
Sun, 29 Dec 2013Halfway between Detroit and Chicago, there is a car museum that gives visitors a unique level of interaction with antique cars. The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI has a driver's training class to teach people of any age to learn how to drive a Ford Model T.
From the crank starter to the column-mounted throttle control, this driving school teaches people all there is to know about driving and operating a Model T. Each class lasts about two and a half hours and is only open to 18 students. There are ten sessions planned for 2014 - twice a day on May 3, June 22, July 22, August 23 and September 14. The class costs $95 (or $85 for members), and it also includes a tour of the museum's automobile collection.
In addition to this driving school, the museum has plenty of exhibits on the property, and it's open all but three days per year (Easter, Christmas and New Year's Day) with free admission for school field trips and active military. Be sure to check out the Gilmore Car Museum's website or visit them on Facebook for more info.
Mustang Cobra Jet prototype garners $200k for charity at Barrett-Jackson
Wed, 02 Oct 2013A few weeks ago we brought you news of a one-off Mustang Cobra Jet that Ford was donating to charity. The car was set to be auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Now that auction has taken place, bringing in an impressive $200,000 for MS research.
That's a lot of zeros for a Mustang, much less one you can't even drive on the street. But the unique pony car, bearing serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1, packs a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, competition gearbox, wheelie bar, roll cage... all you could want, in short, in a turn-key drag racer. And all that for a good cause.
