I’ve decided to sell my 1930 Model A Coupe. I’ve had the car for close to ten years, it came to me as an abandoned street rod project. I wanted to build a more traditional style hot rod and that is how the car is now. I never intended for the car to have a finished look it was always going to be a primer car. The car is by no means a rat or ratty. My plans were to have a safe solid car and that’s what it will be when finished. Over the years I have worked on the car on and off as my interest motivated me. The car is titled as a 1930 Ford. The title is clear and in my name.

-it has a very solid body with the necessary patch panels (forward & rear quarters, inner rear fenders) installed

-the cowl has been rebuilt to repair the street rod damage and poor workmanship, replaced the poorly installed hidden door hinges with new model a hinges, the upper hinge is gone as a result of a bad chop job.

-the chop is approximately 6 inches now, it started out roughly 4 inches and I took out 2 inches to clean it up it still is not perfect but it is a lot better than when I got it. The previous owner chopped it and welded the body together, poorly, to cut it apart you will need to source a rear window panel.

-the doors are nice and only need a little more work to finish fixing where the hidden hinges where installed

-I reversed the firewall for engine room

-it will need the visor reinstalled

-the trunk lid needs to be finished, the skin was removed and louvered

That said the body is very solid and is 90% finished unless you should choose to replace the rear window panel.

-the frame is a boxed stock model a unit that is kicked in the rear 6 inches and stretched to 106 inch wheelbase

-it has a custom k member that resembles a ’32 k member with rear facing legs that the ladder bars attach to

-driveline is in and installed, motor & trans mounts done

-’51 331 Chrysler hemi that was removed from a running car about 7 years ago

-’69 Ford big block top loader 4 speed with a new Wilcap adaptor and flywheel that will use a 11 inch ford clutch

-narrowed van 9 inch rear with 31 spline Dutchman axles, 3.00:1 open diff

-dropped original Ford ’32 heavy axle

-round back spindles with juice brakes

-split ’39 wishbone

-stock ’30-31 radiator and grill shell

-’51 F1 steering box

-6.00-16 front, 7.50-16 rear tires on 16” black ford steel wheels, the tires are new, only used as rollers and always stored indoors

-MG seats

-guide 682 headlights

I know there are details I have missed please ask questions if you have them.

If you would like to see the car that can be arranged, please contact me. I would consider trades for a 4x4 Willys wagon or truck. I would also consider a 1950’s 4 door car or wagon.

This car is an unfinished project and is not drivable.

I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally.

The car is sold “as is” with no warranty expressed or implied.

A non refundable $400.00 deposit via Paypal is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction      . Balance of payment is due via cash on pick up or certified bank check 10 business days before the car is picked up. If paying by certified check I will not release the car before 10 business days after receiving the check.  Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. The car must be picked up within 20 days of the end of the auction.

zero feedback bidders bids will be canceled if you do not contact me first

Ford Q1 profits dragged down by warranty costs

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

General Motors isn't the only Detroit automaker posting falling profits in the first quarter. Ford just released its Q1 2014 financial data, and it reported a net income of $989 million, down $622 million from Q1 2013. The drop is partially blamed on higher warranty and recall expenses than the company had anticipated.
Financially, Ford suffered a rough quarter almost across the board. Its pre-tax profit of $1.4 billion was also down $765 million from a year ago. Things were even worse in the North American market where operating profit fell significantly to $1.5 billion, down from $2.392 billion in Q1 2013. However, its global revenue ticked up slightly to $35.9 billion, from $35.6 billion in this period in 2013.
Ford admitted that it spent about $900 million on expenses that it hadn't planned for during this quarter. According to Reuters, the company paid about $400 million in additional warranty and recall costs in North America. The automaker didn't explain why the costs were so much higher than expected. However, in the last three months, Ford has had several recalls, including on the 2001-2004 Escape for rust, Explorer for its steering, Edge for its fuel line and others.

Ford Escort is ready to focus on the Chinese market

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Ford officially revived the Escort name in China, showing of the new, four-door compact at the Beijing Motor Show. Painted in a stylish brown-bronze, the new sedan wears a number of global Ford styling cues while sharing its platform with the Ford Focus.
Power for the new model comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, although Ford doesn't specify just how much power is on offer, simply saying that the fuel economy of the new mill will be "outstanding." It's unclear what transmission will be distributing the engine's power, although based on the images we've seen, the Escort will definitely offer a two-pedal setup.
The layout of the cabin is fairly clean, although as we mentioned in our initial post on the new Escort, it's a decidedly sparser environment than we've grown use to in US-spec Fords of late. If anything, it's like a weird blend of current Ford switchgear with an overall look that reminds us of older Ford layouts. Still, it looks like a comfortable way of moving five people about without too much fuss. There's ample space both front and rear, and a rather spacious trunk.

Ford 1.0L EcoBoost 3-Cylinder: Autoblog Technology of the Year award finalist

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

As the old saying goes, "There's no replacement for displacement." But these days, many automakers are launching powerful, downsized engines that offer similar or better power output than their predecessors, all while offering improvements in fuel economy and emissions. These days, we're seeing automakers replacing eight-cylinder engines with turbocharged sixes, and the naturally aspirated six-cylinder motors are being phased out in favor of potent turbo fours. But Ford has gone even smaller, offering a three-cylinder, turbocharged engine with one single liter of displacement.
Sure, three-cylinder engines aren't anything new - they've been offered around the globe for ages. But Ford's EcoBoost 1.0L powerplant is perhaps the best application the Autoblog team has tested. Gone are the triple-cylinder complaints of yore - this engine doesn't sound anemic or buzzy, and there's healthy power output on tap. In fact, compared to the 1.6-liter inline-four that Ford also offers in the Fiesta, the 1.0-liter is more powerful, while boasting an impressive 45 miles per gallon on the highway.
This engine has already received numerous accolades, including winning the International Engine of the Year award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The 1.0L EcoBoost will be available in the refreshed 2015 Ford Focus here in the US.
