1922 Model T Ford "doctor"s Coupe Excellent Driver No Reserve on 2040-cars
Augusta, Georgia, United States
Up for bids is my
1922 Model T Ford "Doctor's" Coupe. If I'm not mistaken it also goes
by several other nicknames, "Top Hat Coupe"," High Top
Coupe" among others. After twenty five
years of restoring Model A Fords, I wanted to learn more about the
"T" and bought a couple of "barn finds" got them running
and driving then decided to buy a more reliable Model T. This is the one I chose. This car has been
around the Even after the car
had been stored for several years, it only needed the gas tank and fuel lines
cleaned, a new set of spark plugs, plug wires a new battery and she cranked on
the first turn! I also decided to install a fuel shutoff valve and replace the
carburetor with a rebuilt Unfortunately, the
transmission bands needed replacing. Luckily I found a new set of Kevlar bands
along with some extra parts that came with the car. Once they were installed,
the car ran and drove as it did in 1922..... I would assume! It also stops as
well as it runs! Steering is tight. With the new Kevlar brake band liner and the added optional Although I have no
idea when or by whom the car was restored it is truly a very nice driver. All of the glass
is in excellent condition and the interior looks perfect especially with the
beautifully restored steering wheel. Top is in excellent condition with no
tears, worn areas or leaks. Do to the age of the restoration, the paint is
showing some expected wear, nicks, etc. I have tried to picture most of the
problem areas but the car still draws a crowd as is! I always receive many
compliments! Everything works
on this "T" with the exception of the , "what appears to
be," original speedometer. I would assume it would be operational but the
cable and sprocket assembly that attaches to the right front wheel are missing.
The formally kerosene cowl lamps have been cleverly altered to accept a socket
and bulb and can be lit separately from the headlights. There is also an extra
"STOP" light for safety. I have never seen
any leakage from the excellent radiator, engine, or drivetrain. No need to
check the oil the old way by turning petcocks! Someone has installed a very
helpful dipstick which works great and your hands stay clean! The wooden spokes
are in excellent condition, however, some of the tires are showing some surface
cracking. No problem for short local trips but might be a concern for longer
tours.
As much as I have
enjoyed owning this "T" I need to make room for another recent
vehicle purchase.
I strongly
recommend anyone interested in bidding on this vehicle either visit I can be contacted

Top torque-to-weight ratios under $100k, $50k and $25k
Tue, 07 Oct 2014Horsepower may steal a lot of headlines, but the always-more-complex torque figure is often a critical one for both the workingman and the motoring playboy. The measure of rotational force represents the twist that can liquefy one's tires or haul one's horse trailer. Good stuff.
It follows then, that as with the horsepower-to-weight list that we assembled for you a few months ago, a list of cars that offer the most pound-feet with the fewest pounds to carry, is an interesting one to break down. Sure, there's a big difference in how the torque is applied from a turbocharged six-cylinder in a Swedish luxury sedan and a massive heavy-duty truck's turbo-diesel. But being the car/stat geeks that we are, we think it's kinda neat that those two vehicles rank near each other where torque and weight intersect.
As with the horsepower list, we've given you figures as pounds per every one pound-foot. Again broken down into broad price categories, we've got a mixed bag of 2014 and 2015 models here, too. Every effort has been made to select the most up-to-date prices and specs, and we've also to omitted some '14 cars that won't be re-upped after the ongoing yearly changeover.
IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013
Wed, 02 Jan 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky
Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.
