Up for auction is a fresh nostalgic built, 1927 Ford Roadster Pickup. This Little Roadster is ready for the Books. Just finished in Ford's Washington Blue, with a little of the old, and a little of the new. A Ford Model T frame is the base of this Roadster, with 1941 Ford running gear front, and rear. Model A steering column, and box steer the car down the road. The front end has been extended in front of the spring to give it a longer, and more hot rod look. Old style friction shocks were also used for that traditional look. Modern coil over shocks support the car, from the Banjo rear end, with shortened torque tube, and struts. All new juice brakes, with 40 Ford pedal assembly has been adapted to the frame, so stock style clutch could also be used. The fresh Rohde built, 1951 Flathead, with stainless valves, adjustable lifters, 60 over bore, Winfield Cam, Eddie Meyers dull Intake, 48 Carbs, Edelbrock aluminum heads, Mallory dual point Distributor, with stainless block huger headers, and custom bell exhaust, makes a good running package. The engine starts easy, and runs strong. No heating problems with this Flathead. It's running a aluminum radiator with stock fan assembly painted to match. The traditional 39 gear box shifts good, and the new clutch is smooth. The original steel Roadster body has been moved back 5" on the frame, and a custom box has been added, giving the car a smoother look. Shorty windshield posts, with custom windshield add to the cool of this car. The inner body tub has been skinned with metal, powder coated to match, and polished Bomber seats top off the interior. (Custom) A set of original Ford 16" wire wheels, Powder Coated in the same Washington Blue, look great. A cool third light center front is a park light. Original model T's lights are up front , and 32 Ford tail lights are on the rear. The cars underside is as clean as the top side, (Nice). Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally lands on Google board
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally often referred to the Blue Oval as a technology company when he led the automaker. Now he'll be offering guidance to a different kind of technology firm: Google.
Mulally was appointed to Google's board of directors July 9, and late Tuesday, it was announced that he will serve on the company's audit committee. The veteran executive led Ford from September 2006 until he retired in June, succeeded by Mark Fields.
While Mulally will act as a board member - rather than in a managerial role - his presence adds credibility to Google's recently announced plans to produce an autonomous car. The ambitious program calls for 100 prototypes to begin testing later this summer. Production of the car is rumored to be in collaboration with a Detroit area performance company, Roush.
Ford's Farley apologizes for saying Blue Oval tracks customers with GPS
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Ford marketing head honcho Jim Farley made waves at CES this week by telling show attendees, "We know everyone who breaks the law, we know when you're doing it." according to a report by Business Insider. Farley continued by saying, "We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing. By the way, we don't supply that data to anyone."
Farley has since amended his statement, saying that Ford dose not, in fact, track its customers in their cars "without their approval or consent."
Apparently carried away with a hypothetical notion, Farley was attempting to describe how Ford might be able to employee aggregated user data for things like accurate traffic reporting and pattern spotting. A Ford spokesperson confirmed with Business Insider that its GPS units are not sharing the whereabouts of drivers, though there are a few on-board services that might do so. After opting in to the services (and presumably being made aware of any/all tracking and data collection), Ford's Sync Services Directions and Crew Chief software do, in fact, allow data collection as a means of improving both systems. Farley added that the opt-in data is not shared, even when being tracked.
Ford readying Ranger-based Everest SUV?
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Way back in August, we showed you a Ford concept for the Australian market called the Everest. Now, we can show you that work on the new Ranger-based SUV is well under way.
At this stage, it's still quite clearly a mule (note the misalignment of the front and rear doors), wearing the Ranger's front end and the rump of Ford's overseas Territory crossover. The wheelbase is shorter than a Ranger, according to our spy photographers, which strikes us as somewhat odd for a more passenger-oriented vehicle. Disc brakes should be fitted at all four corners, while the new SUV, which will almost certainly wear the Everest name, should sport a new rear suspension.
In terms of looks, we're expecting the Everest Concept to inform the appearance of the production model. Naturally, there will also be some interior tweaks, particularly around the dashboard, which is covered in these photos.
