Serious buyers only please! Up for auction is my beautiful 1966 Mustang Fastback. I have owned the car for just over two years and have truly enjoyed every day. Even now I am reluctant to sell it, but I have a once in my lifetime chance at another dream car that I have decided to go after. The fastback has its original 289 2-barrel engine with 118k miles; 3 pumps on the gas pedal and it fires up every time, no smoke, no noise. To my knowledge the engine has never been apart. I added the COBRA valve covers and TRI-Y headers. It originally came with a 3 speed manual, but has been upgraded to a 1967 close-ratio Toploader 4 speed manual. It is a NON air condition car, manual steering and brakes. It has fresh brakes and brake lines; new fuel tank and lines installed by previous owner. The car had been in storage for many years, so for safety reasons these items were done. Tires are in excellent condition . One of my dream cars is a 1966 Shelby GT350 – since I don’t have 125K+ I opted for a tribute car. All of the Shelby parts added to this car were bought from Tony Branda and are as follows: GT350 White Side Stripes/Decals COBRA 71/2 Quart Aluminum Oil Pan Grille emblem GT350 Gas cap GT350 rear panel emblem Rotunda mirror ¼ plexi window kit Side scoops Fiberglass with steel support Hood Air cleaner COBRA Valve covers Hood pins Shelby serial plate GT350 Steering Wheel center Cobra Tachometer Shelby 10 Spoke wheels and center caps (bought elsewhere) AUTHENTIC RAY BROWN drivers side racing seat belt The car looks fantastic in pictures and from 10 feet away. The paint is showing its age, but I actually think it looks kinda neat with the “patina”… I highly recommend prospective buyers to see the car in person so there are no disappointments. The interior of the car is extremely nice … it still wears its original black standard interior. The headliner has a hole at the top passenger front, but is hidden by the passenger side visor when up – looks like a mouse had fun chewing it at some point while in storage…no odors or anything at all either. What the car will need at some point if you want to invest in it: Paint job, lower quarter panel repair (see pictures), and dent removal from top of passenger fender (see picture). This car has all original sheetmetal (except hood of course).

Ford Fiesta ST GRC Racecar is hungry for podiums in 2013

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

As we reported earlier, the Chicago showing of this plucky Ford Fiesta ST GRC racer points to bigger and brighter days for Global RallyCross. For the upcoming season, you can expect to see Ken Block and Tanner Foust both driving the Ford racecar, and if last season's results are any indication, you can anticipate quite a few podium appearances, as well.
The Fiesta seen here was built by the Swedes at OlsbergsMSE, and will be driven in anger by Foust in 2013. Modifications are, as you'd expect, extensive, and include an engine, exhaust and braking upgrades, a racing style short-throw shifter and a limited-slip differential. As you can see, the car has been fully stripped out and caged for maximum speed and safety, too.
Refresh your memories with the details of the car, in the press releases below. And if you head out to the Chicago Auto Show this year, don't forget to drop by the Ford stand to have a look.

Ford books $2.6B pretax quarterly profit

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

While its crosstown competitors at General Motors are smarting over a drastic drop in net income to $200 million in the second quarter, Ford has reason to celebrate. The Blue Oval has announced its own Q2 financial results, including a growing net income of $1.3 billion, a $78 million increase over last year. Pretax profits for the company reached $2.6 billion, up $44 million from 2013, but total revenue dropped slightly to $37.4 billion, down from $37.9 billion. Profits per share before one-time charges totaled 40 cents per share, beating Wall Street analysts' expectations of 36 cents a share.
Regionally, the Blue Oval performed strongly, as well. North America posted a record quarterly pre-tax profit of $2.4 billion, a $119 million increase. Europe also showed signs of turn around with its first profit in three years of $14 million after a loss of $306 million in Q2 2013. Ford is actually predicting profitability in the troubled region in 2015. Asia Pacific operations also performed well with $159 million in profits, up $29 million from last year. The only region where the business posted a loss was South America.
According to Automotive News, Ford also announced more precise plans about the changeover to build the aluminum-intensive 2015 F-150. In August, the Dearborn plant will shutdown for eight weeks to retool and its Kansas City plant will do the same next year.

2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

2012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:
