                                                  1968 Mustang Coupe

This car was in my family since 1968. i will try to make it short. Dad took it off the road in 1984 to begin restoration. He had it sandblasted in new rear quarters leaded in ( he is a tinsmith by trade). well he got too old and she sat in a barn for the next 22 years. I got it from him in 07 and picked up where he left off. I put all new everything on it. from suspension to brakes. i will add what i did when time permits but just know it was a labor of love. well my interests have changed Im 50 now and 11 grandchildren and camping/fishing is on my list of prioritys. so im going to let her go to someone to finish up and enjoy.

I did have it Pennsylvania state inspected and licensed and insured for about 2 years. i let it run out and she just sits in my garage now.

On Feb-28-13 at 12:55:06 PST, seller added the following information:

Ok i will attempt to itemize things ive done over the years as follows.

Underneath i coated by brush entirely with POR15. (what a mess)

I installed new gas tank and fuel lines, all new brake lines front to back (kit from Laurel Mustang), all new wheel cylinders, brake drums rear, and new brake lining and hardware. new wheel bearings and seals, Rear end pulled and painted with new pinion seal, axle seals, synthetic gear oil.

New 5 leaf rear suspension, New 750 lb front coil springs, new shocks(4). new upper and lower A-arms with grease fittings. all new steering components including pitman arm and idler arm. Original manual steering gearbox (repacked).

Interior new light blue moon crater headliner, new insulation on roof and sail panel area. new dome light and door switches. Dad did repair the floor pans previously. they are solid as well.  original material is still under blue seat covers (original is torn and ratty). New dash pad, new instrument bezel and dash (camera case). am-fm philco radio. all glass is original except windshield original was cracked , I used a donor and it is Carlite.

Engine is a late model 5.0 gt roller cam engine. with B303 cam and 68 J-code 4 bbl cast iron intake, with Holley 600 cfm show carburetor w/electric choke. Pertronix dizzy with flame thrower coil. new water pump.  50 .0z harmonic balance wheel (performance products).  New radiator, hoses, etc.... Exhaust is true duals with flowmasters and long tube headers.

transmission is original #s matching c-4. I do have a TCI street fighter stall converter to go along (400.00 value right there).

I do have the original #s matching 289 engine to go along too.

Like i said this is running and driving mustang I had it inspected and tagged. but never took it out hardly. (i  put 40 miles on the car on the last inspection).

The wheels are Keystone Classics with running horse centers.

this car can sit a month and i hit the pedal once and it fires right up. it will not require any tinkering. it will however need finish sanding and painted. I just ran out of steam..Any additional questions please feel free to ask. Yes you can drive this car home ( i dont know if i would go from Pennsylvania to California but you get my drift).  I was always planning on the original Presidential Blue paint but that would be your call. Good luck bidding thanks for looking and God Bless

Consumer Reports says Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevy are big winners in brand perception survey

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

According to Consumer Reports, the automotive brands that stand out in the minds of car buyers are, in order: Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevrolet. This news comes after the magazine polled its readers, asking them to take into account vehicle quality, safety, performance, value, fuel economy, design/style, and technology/innovation - which are the factors that car shoppers are most influenced by.
It's important to note that this award is only about perception. In other words, it's perceived quality, not actual quality. "Often, perception can be a trailing indicator, reflecting years of good or bad performance in a category, and it can also be influenced by headlines in the media," said Jeff Bartlett, Consumer Reports deputy automotive editor.
The brand that made the biggest jump in perception amongst Consumer Reports readers is Tesla, which posted an impressive 47-point gain to finish in fifth place. Subaru is also notable for finishing in the top 10, despite being one of the smaller manufacturers doing business in the US. Scroll down below for all the details from Consumer Reports, if you're so inclined.

How and why Ford is rolling out Vignale in Europe

Wed, 09 Oct 2013

We know that Ford is positioning the new, upscale Vignale brand in Europe to fill a niche market of customers who want a bit more luxury, a lot more service and the same reliability and dependability that a non-Vignale Ford offers. But so far, we've been in the dark regarding how the Blue Oval will sell Vignale vehicles, how many of them will be created, and what the new sub-brand has in store for the future.
Gaetano Thorel, Ford's European marketing head, recently was interviewed by Automotive News and shared details about Ford Vignale. Thorel says, "The Vignale trim line will be priced like an ST model but attract a completely different type of customer." Specifically, he says it will attract customers in the upper 15 percent of the price band who don't want a performance-oriented ST model. He adds that Vignale cars will be about 10 percent more expensive than Titanium-trim cars. About 500 of Ford's European dealers will sell Vignale Fords, Thorel says, "in areas that make sense." The automaker expects 10 percent of its European sales to be Vignale cars, which equates to about 5 percent of its global sales. When asked if there are any other Vignale models planned beyond the Mondeo, Thorel said, "There is nothing written in stone yet."

Rowan Atkinson crashes at Goodwood Revival

Sun, 14 Sep 2014

To quote Harry Hogge (played by Robert Duvall) in Days of Thunder, "rubbin, son, is racin'." That can mean some unfortunate damage to high-end racing machinery, which may be repaired easily enough in stock car racing, but when it comes to vintage racing, the stakes can be that much higher. And yet incidents do occur, like at this weekend's Goodwood Revival.
Among the many competitors taking part in the retro racing event in England was none other than Rowan Atkinson, the actor perhaps best known for playing Mr. Bean. Driving a classic Ford Falcon Sprint in the Shelby Cup event, Atkinson (pictured above at the 2012 revival) reportedly crashed head-on into another car on track.
According to reports, the two cars up spun out. The driver in between managed to avoid a pile-up, but Atkinson couldn't steer clear and hit the obstructing vehicle. Fortunately Rowan walked away unscathed (and, we imagine, in a humorous manner), but while we don't know how extensive the damage was to the Falcon, it was enough to take it out of the race.
