We are selling our 1989 Mustang GT Convertible with a Factory 5.0 V-8 Engine with only 50K Original Miles on it (the car has a total of 170K miles). New Radiator, Water Pump and Thermostat, New Battery, Heater Core (all within the last 12 Months). The Transmission is a Borg Warner T-5 Five Speed (also with 50K Original Miles as well as the Clutch ) (this Mustang originally had an AOD Automatic Transmission). The Engine and Transmission were taken from a wrecked 1992 Mustang GT with only 45,000 Original Miles on it. The Brakes are New, Front and Rear (less than 100 Miles on them). Since putting the Engine and Transmission in about 10 years ago, we have put about 5,000 Miles on it and that is why we are selling it. We have no reason to keep putting the Insurance on it! We currently have 10 Vehicles and 6 of those are Mustangs!

As far as "Car Fax", they show this Vehicle as Free & Clear but, the "Mileage Exceeds the Vehicles Mechanical Limits". This means that it has "more than 100,000 Miles on it" as disclosed in the 1st. line of the Description. The Car is over 20 Years Old and that would be expected.

This Mustang started life as an LX but we added the GT Ground Effects and as you can see, it needs to be repainted. A tree branch fell on the left fender and the hood so those have been replaced with used Factory Ford Parts. The damaged caused was minimal but it was more cost effective to just replace the parts.

The Black Interior was taken out of a wrecked 1990 GT Convertible to replace the Original Red Interior. This also includes the ever so RARE  Factory Black Tweed Seats! They have NOT been Painted or Dyed! RARE!

All of the Power Options work except for the Air Conditioning (we just don't use it here in South Dakota).

The 4 or 5 Year Old Convertible Top is in Excellent Condition and should last you quite awhile too.

There is Absolutely NO RUST on this car! We moved to South Dakota 6 Years ago (from California) and have managed to put on about 200 Miles per Year and that is the reason we have decided to sell it.

Paint it, Charge the A/C and Drive it ANYWHERE! We can drive and meet you for delivery to save the cost of shipping. Just contact us to make arrangements prior to buying. Car must be paid in full first.

Call 605 673-3198 before 8:00 PM Mountain Time for any other details or to come see it.

NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"

Mulally will stay close to Ford after he steps down, plans to advise Fields [w/video]

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

Ford CEO Alan Mulally has less than a week left in his role of leading the Blue Oval before he hands off duties to Mark Fields on July 1. It doesn't look like Mulally is going to be shuffling off into his retirement anytime soon, though. The 68-year-old is being rather secretive about his next move, but he tells Bloomberg in a recent interview that he plans to stay close to Ford. Also, if Fields wants to ask for any advice, Mulally is happy to help.
Mulally took over at Ford in 2006 and led the company through a seriously rough patch in the auto industry. According to Bloomberg, he became famous or his Thursday meetings where executives were forced to deal with any problems before they could leave. Since announcing his retirement from Ford in May, Mulally has been insuring a smooth transition of power by traveling the world to all of company's major locations and saying goodbye to employees and dealers.
In terms of the future at Ford, Mulally doesn't predict any big changes in management style because the rest of the executive team is staying in place. He believes that Fields is going to maintain the processes already in place to keep things going. After all, it seems to be working. The company is predicting a return to profitability in Europe next year and is opening 88 new dealers in China. If the business could get its recalls under control, things could get even better.

How Ford made its 2015 Ford Mustang safer for toupee wearers [w/video]

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

Ford is ready to tell the story of its 2015 Mustang Convertible, the can't-miss bits being the easier, quicker and quieter roof operation, a more robust roof build for a coupe-like cabin noise, more trunk space, better visibility and reduced in-cabin buffeting. The top release system has been completely redesigned with a single, center-mounted latch on the windshield frame instead of the dual latches of before. The driver can now release the roof without having to lean over into the passenger space, after which the top goes down fully automatically with the press of a button. Ford doesn't say how long it takes to stow, but it's apparently done in half as much time as before, so figure around 8 seconds.
The roof uses a five-bow structure, with the fabric outer and full inner headliner sandwiching ten millimeters of insulation. Detailing work on the top has eliminated "unsightly folds" in the corners when the roof is up and made it more compact when down; its Z-fold assembly is 6.7 inches lower than before at its highest point when put down. Ford says the new electric drive internals make less noise when in operation, and the fully-finished droptop look is achieved with snap-in caps that flank the rear seating and stow in the trunk when not in use (the outgoing Mustang's top was higher and the front when folded and always looked like it was catching air and creating drag).
The compact roof and newly independent rear suspension setup in back means liberated trunk space, 11.4 cubic feet ready to swallow golf bags and tourist swag. You can read a lot more about it in the press release below, check it out in the short video of running footage and learn about the aerodynamic improvements made to the entire Mustang lineup that decrease drag and increase fuel economy.
