IT'S RED!  This is a Florida car. It has no rust and no cracks and precious few dings.
I received this car from my daughter who didn't like it and had bought it at 39000 miles from its original owner. It is stock. She gave it to me with 74000 miles and I have treasured it now for several years. It isn't perfect. The back bumper and trunk lid were repaired when an uncle popped her from behind and the bumper shows it just a bit (see photos). The tint is new sides and back, professionally done. I installed a new CD player. It has ski boot back seat. It handles incredibly well as I found out in the mountains of north Georgia last spring. The car runs perfectly. The tranny has the ford shudders for which I use an additive that I can recommend from NAPA. NO oil drips any where nor has it ever leaked. I have changed oil, serviced the tranny and washed and shined it faithfully (too much, my wife says. I call it my change-of-life-mobile)
The photos will show what a smashing looking car this is. It always turns heads of guys and girls. It sounds great and looks great and has many miles of great driving ahead. Oh yeah, I average around 27mpg on trips on the Interstate. Cruise works perfectly, as does the original remote lock/unlock - there are extra keys and a secret spare one. A/C and heat are perfect.
When your check clears or when your payment is clear you may have the car or bring cash. It would easily go to California with no trouble, or I will drive it to you for expenses - gas, food and a bus ticket home.

Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.

Ford Explorer gets appearance pack for 2015

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

Remember when Ford launched the totally new Explorer in late 2010, and people were skeptical about how the now-crossover would fare, after ditching its traditional SUV roots? Well, we're several years in, and I think we can assuredly say that Ford made the right decision. Sales are better than ever (in fact, May was the current Explorer's best month yet), and the crossover is finding its way into the hands of a whole host of new Ford buyers.
A wholly refreshed Explorer is still forthcoming, but to keep its strong-selling crossover fresh, Ford is offering a host of improvements for the 2015 model year, including the attractive appearance package available on the XLT trim level, pictured above. Outside, the pack gets you goodies like 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, black bodyside cladding and roof rack rails. Contrasting Magnetic Metallic accents are found on the grille, mirror caps and liftgate appliqué, and there's an "Explorer" hood badge and body-colored door handles. Inside, there are new Miko suede inserts in the seats, and the package includes the automaker's Sync connectivity with MyFord Touch infotainment.
Elsewhere in the Explorer range, the Class III trailer tow pack is now standard on the Sport, base models get new 18-inch aluminum wheels, and there are three new colors on offer: Bronze Fire Metallic and Magnetic Metallic.

2015 Galpin Ford GTR1

Mon, 25 Aug 2014

Last year in Monterey, we met GTR1 for the first time. Galpin Auto Sports pulled the wraps off its Ford GT-based supercar, powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.4-liter V8 good for a whopping 1,024 horsepower and 739 pound-feet of torque. The thing was totally custom-made and reportedly took some 12,000 man hours to create. And there it sat on the Pebble Beach grass, $1,000,000-plus price tag and all.
This year, the Galpin was back, albeit with one big change. That twin-turbo engine? Gone. In its place, a 5.4-liter V8 with a 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger bolted on, delivering an astonishing 1,058 hp and 992 lb-ft of torque on 110-octane fuel. 0-60? 2.9 seconds. Top speed? Somewhere above 225 miles per hour.
"Some things to keep in mind: no stability control, no traction control," were the only warnings given by Galpin's Brandon Boeckmann before taking me on a quick spin in the supercar. And after having my eyes thrown into the back of my skull a few times, laughing hysterically and trying to regain full use of my hearing after my ear drums being bombarded by the apocalyptic roar behind me, Brandon pulled over and said it was my turn, if I was ready to take the wheel.
