This 2017 Shelby Mustang GT350X was built to be "one-of-a-kind" 875HP supercharged V-8 Mustang that will out-perform and out-handle the Ford GT, the Dodge Demon and Redeye, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, as well as the new Porsche GT3RS; and has the nostalgia look of the 1965 and 1966 GT350.

The Shelby GT350X has a 2.9L Whipple twin-screw supercharger, which delivers dense oxygen into Ford’s amazing, new flat-plane crank V-8. (This is the same advanced-engineered supercharger that powers Ford’s Cobra Jet drag racer.) The Whipple system includes the billet oval 132mm electronic throttle body, high flow 72lb./hr. fuel injectors and a new, high-flow intercooler pump. It makes up to 875 (+350HP over the stock GT350) engine on 93-octane fuel with only 9-psi of boost!

Next, the GT350X muscle car was equipped with a full complement of Steeda Autosports’ suspension modifications, which completely transforms the Mustang with improved handling and vehicle control as well as the competitive advantage on both the street and track. This car truly does have the suspension set-up that will handle the increased HP. Modifications include:

2-point G-Track brace
Billet oil separator
Rear independent rear suspension subframe brace
Independent rear suspension alignment kit
Camber plates
Clutch helper spring
Adjustable rear toe link
Billet aluminum integral/vertical links
Rear swaybar
Rear camber arm brackets

And last, but not least, this Shelby GT350X Mustang build include:
Brushed-aluminum GT350X grille emblem
Color-coded Lightning Blue “supercharged” side rocker stripes
Color-coded “supercharged” hood callouts
Steeda G-TRAC Suspension fender badges
Color-matched GT350X emblem on the rear fascia
Body-colored rear fascia
Body-colored rear spoiler with Lightning Blue over-the-top striping
GT350X sill plates and dash plaque
GT350X wheel center caps
Raised white-letter Nitto drag radials (Raised white letters courtesy of Tire Stickers.)
GT350X callouts embroidered on the front seats

Ford Q3 pretax profits drop to $1.18B

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Following positive third quarter financial results recently from General Motors, rival Ford took a tumble in Q3. The automaker posted pre-tax profits of $1.18 billion, compared to about $2.59 billion in Q3 2013, a drop of around 54 percent. Net income also suffered with $835 million made in the quarter, versus $1.272 billion last year, a decline of about 34 percent. The Blue Oval blamed the gloomy figures on three reasons in its release: "lower volume, higher warranty costs and adverse balance sheet exchange effects."
There were problems of one kind or another in practically every region. North America experienced higher warranty costs than expected, partially due to recalls. The sales volume for the quarter was 665,000 units, versus 725,000 in Q3 2013, and pre-tax results amounted to $1.41 billion versus $2.296 billion last year.
South America and Europe both posted worse pre-tax results than last year. On the bright side, European volume was up slightly to 321,000 vehicles, from 303,000 in Q3 2013. The Middle East and Africa also lost $15 million, but that was an improvement compared to the $25 million loss previously experienced in this region.

Jay Leno and Lee Iacocca reflect on 50 years of Ford Mustang

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

Lee Iacocca oversaw the birth of the Ford Mustang back in the 1960s, rocketing the new pony car nameplate into million-unit sales territory in its initial go-round and cementing its place in the history books. Thus, we were immediately drawn to this latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage, in which the funnyman hosts Iacocca for a look at the origins of Ford's most iconic sports car. The legendary auto exec is looking notably more frail than when we last saw him, but if we're being asked around as a video guest when we're 89 years old, we'll consider that evidence of a life well lived.
Serial No. 0001 is on hand for the occasion for Jay's romp through history, as is the historic Mustang 1 showcar from 1962. Of course, the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT (in prototype form) makes an appearance at the end of the episode with chief engineer Dave Pericak, as well. Get some, below.

Ford debuts Fusion NASCAR racer that edges closer to stock [w/video]

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

The sixth-generation NASCAR Sprint Cup racecar, which will make its competition debut at the 2013 Daytona 500 this weekend, marks the closest thing to a "stock car" that the sport has seen in more than 20 years. No longer using just stickers to distinguish the different brands, the image above shows the lengths NASCAR and automakers went in order to create a racecar design that more closely resembles the individual cars they represent.
Ford, one of the more open and vocal OEMs regarding the Gen6 car's development, is giving us a closer look at its racing version of the Fusion with a pretty revealing side-by-side comparison with last years' racer (click above for an expanded view). Aside from the more realistic front end and production-like body lines, the overall shape, dimensions and proportions have also been designed to give the racecar a more stock appearance. Most of the new racer was designed by the Ford Design Center, which the automaker says was the first time it has been so involved in the design process since the 1960s. Of course, one area the Sprint Cup Fusion really differs from the production Fusion is its Ford Racing 5.8-liter V8 producing around 850 hp. Can you say Fusion SVT?
