1935 Ford V8 flathead pickup.  partial restoration was started by original owner probably about 30 years ago? with some work to the cab and rear fenders . We would categorize this wonderful old truck as well preserved , in not running condition. No serious rust. Repair replacement Parts for these old pickups are very easy to get and many speed shops have any part you need from A to Z. we tried to clean it up so buyer can see everything down to the original "Henry Ford" steel !. Truck is solid and the doors close like a bank vault. A  nice old 79 year old survivor ! many parts we worked on were professionally carefully sand blasted down to original bare metal. The High performance Mercury 8CM engine came with the truck. we were told it was a rare "4 Stroker 8CM Mercury V8 flathead. which was the engine everyone wanted back in the 1930's -1950's. "Bonnie and Clyde exclusively used the large HP V* flathead due to its power ! we were told that the crank alone on this engine is worth $900++ and that these amazing power plants can fetch $5000 and more when rebuilt for the flathead racing market.. This truck is a real attention getter..as they are so rare folks flock to see it...
Some parts on the truck may be missing,.. its not  100% but looks incredible!  We cleaned it up and had it on display until recently. A real head turner for sure . motor looks sweet but will really need rebuilding and condition is honestly unknown. truck had been converted at one time to  "Juice" modern hydraulic brakes, and 12 volt system (battery included)...it will need master cylinder and wheel cylinders either replaced or rebuilt.   Truck has never been chopped etc. we sand blasted everything we could (down to metal ) and applied a preservation coat of paint in preparation for long time dry storage. Any dents or dings, normal cracks were purposely not repaired for the simple reason we wanted NO BONDO on any of the parts were preserved, ......VIN *Number on TITLE AND FRAME ARE MATCHING 1935 ..buyer is responsible for shipping and nothing will leave the garage until full payment is made...cash or cashiers check only with $500 paypal non refundable deposit required within 12 hours following end of auction. Clear  title ..a great head start for someone looking for that entry level restoration or a daily driver or RAT ROD! the cool factor is truly off the hook with these old 35-36 pickups..nothing compares !!

Old vs. new debate gets new life with $25,000 Fiesta ST vs. E46 M3 showdown

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

You know who you are. There's probably a few of you reading; the ones that say, "Why would I spend $27,000 on a new Mazda MX-5 when I could get a used Chevrolet Corvette with more power." Yes, we're talking to you, used car proponents. While it is a fair argument, it's not like used cars don't come with drawbacks of their own, though.
In an attempt to put this new-versus-used argument to bed once and for all, Matt Farah of the The Smoking Tire has picked up a pair of $25,000 cars - a used, but lightly modified, 2003 BMW M3 and a 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. Naturally, there's a comparison.
Farah, as he's wont to do, does get into the nitty gritty of what each car is like to drive, and discusses the merits of used and new-car shopping. But as he rightly points out while testing the M3, "So, it is a good car. But like any used car, it really does depend on the individual car."

Ford turns Navistar from truck business customer to rival

Mon, 19 May 2014

There is a showdown brewing in the medium-duty truck segment next year as Ford prepares to launch its all-new, in-house engineered 2016 F-650 and F-750. It finally marks the end of the Blue Diamond joint venture between Ford and Navistar and, making the two entities direct competitors instead of partners.
Ford announced the end of the joint venture in an investor report in 2011, but it didn't reveal the new F-650 and F-750 until the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, in March. Unlike the current, Mexican-built models, the new generation will be built in Avon Lake, OH, starting in mid-2015.
The challenge from Ford comes during a rough patch for Navistar. The company had a $248 million loss in the first quarter, according to The Wall Street Journal, and its medium-duty truck market share is currently down to 26 percent, from 36 percent in 2011. Building the previous-generation Fords brought in about $400 million a year to Navistar, according to the WSJ. To take on its former partner, Navistar plans to offer its International brand of medium-duty vehicles with more engine and transmission options to customers. It even struck a deal with Cummins to put its diesels in some of the models.

NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
