Very Nice! Head Turning & Remarkable, w/ Multiple, Well Deserved, Top Award(s) Won!
Vintage, 1952 Ford F - 1  Truck, Oh, if she could talk!.... this Gal has had a great life, so far! Yeah she's 61 years young, no body work other than what was done at the factory back in the day with lead, but with a very good paint job and both a rebuilt for "unleaded fuel", stock 239 CU. flat-head V-8 110 HP and the upgraded, rebuilt, mercury 3 speed manual (as mentioned w/ the solenoid overdrive), also added was/is power steering, she rides down the road a bit faster than the standard transmission that came with it back in '52, so she just purrs down the highway, (must mention that the trans mounting did require some fabricated modification),
( excellent workmanship! ) looks like it's meant to be the way it is.
I was honored to be allowed to drive this wonderful machine, she's just as smooth as can be, clutching to the next gear is smooth and actually so is the ride. (considering the fact that it's a truck)
(though in truth I only took her up to about 45 mph or so, in respect to the ol' gal, as well for my neighbor allowing me to drive her)!
Wow!... so cool! They just don't make anything these days to compare! Heck the metal alone could probably make 10 cars!
Back to the details; my neighbor Jim, is only selling this beaut' so that he can surprise his long loved & wed wife, with a special anniversary present, that she would not even expect! (it's well that her heart is strong!) (kudos, to him and their marriage!) she's been stored (the truck) during the winters in the garage within a moisture guard enclosure and in the summers garaged when not being shown or driven, as can be seen in the pictures both topside and undercarriage is in great shape! with just a bit of rust under her (see photos') but all in all very clean! Rebuilt in 2002, she's seen many shows and won her many well deserved trophies!
(Jim's a stickler when it comes to keeping all his vehicles, nicely detailed (he is meticulous!) in all areas including; maintenance of wheel bearings, hinges, ball joints, oil changes etc... you name it, it's cared for, whether needed or not!  Hardly a day goes by, that he's not performing maintenance, or polishing his car(s)(including a mint condition '55 Packard Clipper) or this truck, tires in good shape, runs great, looks great, you can't ask for more, but wait, there is more, miles?
How about less than 12,ooo + - miles since the rebuild !!!
(speedometer out for a short bit of time,...no biggie!) since she was re-built!  Plenty of high end offers over the years, but never did he consider selling until now, with their anniversary upcoming, ... (No he's not thrilled with letting her go, but, his wife takes precedence!)
(as it should be!...Donna is such a kind hearted and giving lady)    (I wish I had the $$$doe! I'd gladly pay him his very fair price!)
Please by all means... ?s' are welcome!!! ... Last, but (by far) not least, words,
... you might be able to find as nice as her, in a museum somewhere!

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.

Raptor, Excursion, Texas And Hennessey
Each of those words are synonyms for big and bold - combine all four and you've got one of the largest, most powerful and robust street-going sport utility vehicles in the world.
John Hennessey is a Texas-based tuner known for creating some of the fastest and most capable cars on the planet. Over the past two decades, machines like the Viper Venom 550, Ford GT 1000 Twin Turbo, HPE 700 LS9 Camaro and the almighty Venom GT have emerged from the Hennessey Performance garage. And those are just the celebrated flagships; the company has modified thousands of other street cars including those from Audi, Bentley, Cadillac, Ferrari, Ford, Porsche and Toyota, to name a few.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit can haul on the track

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Line up any two comparable vehicles, and eople are going to want to race them. Need proof? In its latest track battle, Auto Express wants to know which commercial vehicle can lap a circuit faster - a Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Let's face it, neither of these European vans were ever meant to be near the track unless they are delivering a racecar and a ton of parts for a fun weekend, but it's massively fun to watch them give it a go anyway.
The one thing that Auto Express really illustrates here is the modern marvel that is stability control. The driver hops curves, and these big vans lean in the corners like your friend walking home from a long night at the bar. However, because of the amazing stability systems, the vans mostly keep all of their wheels planted and never seem close to getting sloppy, despite their behemoth size.
Unfortunately, the two vans aren't exactly fairly paired. The Ford has a dual rear axle and a few other advantages over the Mercedes, but it's still hilarious to watch them go. Even better, the host breaks down everything happening behind the wheel like these commercial vehicles were two Porsches. Enjoy watching this very unorthodox battle between Ford and Mercedes.
