Up for auction is one of the nicest 72 Ford F 100 pickups you will ever find. This truck was built in San Jose California and spent most of it's life in Arizona before coming to Ohio in the mid 1980's. It received a frame off restoration in the mid 1980's and has not even been rained on since. As clean on the bottom as it is on the top. Numbers matching 360 V8 and automatic transmission with power steering and dealer add on a/c. The explorer package was a spring time Ford promotion that year that was only offered in 3 colors and the original was tan with buckskin interior. When restored this truck was painted jet black and its laser straight. This truck has never had a patch panel put in it. Five years ago we completely replaced the interior including carpet headliner, door panels, seats and even visors. The gorgeous vintage flame job was done at that time by Sweitzer Performance Center. The a/c belt was taken off several years ago but the air was working at that time and the compressor is free. Bumpers are nearly mint and stainless is good with only a few minor dings. Terms of the auction are as follows. The truck is being sold as is no warranty expressed or implied and I don't do returns so ask questions before bidding. You are bidding to buy, not come look. If you need someones permission to buy, please get it before bidding. A $1000.00 deposit via paypal is due within 24 hours of auction close and the balance via cash in person or wire transfer within 72 hours of auction close, NO EXCEPTIONS !!!!!! Shipping or pick up is at buyers expense and is expected within 7 days of auctions end. You may contact me at 419-569-3361 and the truck is available for inspection during the auction by appointment, not afterwards. The truck is in Bucyrus Ohio and I have a clear lien free title in hand in my name. Thank you and good luck.

Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.

Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.

Ford could post best-ever profits in Q1 2013

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Analysts are saying that Ford Motor Company may have earned a record $2.7 billion pretax profit in North America during the first quarter of 2013, a number that represents its highest first quarter profit ever. The impressive earnings are further proof that the American automaker is making a solid comeback as the economy begins to recover.
Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan Chase are estimating that Ford's first quarter North American profit may have topped 12 percent. The firm cited the automaker's fresh lineup, but noted that CEO Alan Mulally needs to uphold the pace as the company works to gain ground in the car and utility segments.
Ford's success has been led by increased demand for its F-Series pickup, the best-selling vehicle in the US for 31 years, and by the Fusion sedan that recently recorded its best-ever quarterly sales in the domestic market. Ford is expected to release its first-quarter revenue on Wednesday, of this week.
