1963 Ford Ranchero on 2040-cars
Clarksville, Virginia, United States
1963 Ranchero. 6 cyl. 3 speed trans. Nice driver. Paint is decent. Interior decent. Tires good. Ansen slot mags, one does not match others...it has a different backspacing. Passenger rear quarter has been replaced at sometime and need some work to make it decent. Floor pan has been replaced and is good. Rust is minimal for 51 year old car...some under front of bed, both panels behind rear tires have bubbles and some bubbles in doors. Has Toyota bucket seats and console. New black carpet set, not installed. Bumpers appear to have been re-chromed. All glass is all very good. Dual tailpipes from single muffler. Motor cranks up easily and runs well. 144ci. Gas tank cleaned and sealed with POR15. New fuel lines. New carb. Column shift. CD player, not hooked up, also includes amp and speaker boxes. New battery. Speedometer was not hooked up when I purchased, actual mileage unknown. Lots of work done...not much needed to make it reliable...will require additional work to make it really nice! Clean NC title. If you are interested...include your number in email and I will be happy to call and discuss at length.

Project Ugly Horse: Part VI
Thu, 21 Mar 2013Solid axle? What solid axle?
I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation.
This should not have gone this easily. Having a long and checkered history of simple projects punctuated by much wailing and gnashing of knuckles, I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation when I finally decided to lay hands on the '89 Mustang with the goal of relieving the car of its stock rear axle. Instead, it took less than a full morning's worth of work to carve the old 7.5-inch solid axle from its moorings and mock up something, well, different.
Mulally to stay at Ford through end of 2014 at least
Fri, 06 Dec 2013Alan Mulally isn't going anywhere... at least not just yet. The CEO who helped turn around Ford Motor Company has been linked to the top job at tech behemoth Microsoft, leading to a flurry of rumors about potential successors. Those rumors, though, may have just been put to rest - at least for a little while.
Speaking to Edsel Ford II (great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford) at the unveiling of the new Mustang, Automotive News Europe confirmed that Mulally would stick around until the end of next year. "Alan is staying through the end of 2014 and that's all I know," said Ford. "Frankly, he has told us that his plan is to stay with Ford through the end of 2014."
Presuming that Edsel Ford is correct and that Microsoft isn't so hot on Mulally that it saves the position for him, it seems increasingly likely that the 68-year-old exec is more interested in continuing to work in Dearborn rather than in Redmond.
Ford Ranger-based 7-seat SUV spotted testing
Wed, 29 May 2013Ford looks to be working on a new SUV version of its global Ranger pickup truck. An early prototype of a seven-passenger SUV based on the Ranger has been spotted testing in Australia, and word has it buyers in the region could expect to see the model in showrooms as soon as 2014, where it could sail under the Endeavour or Everest badges. Ford Australia currently sells the Territory SUV, so there's some chance that this model could be a successor to that throne, as well.
Whatever it's called, the long-roof Ranger will feature a shorter wheelbase and more ground clearance than its pickup twin, giving the machine a bit more off-road functionality. (And here we thought we couldn't want the global Ranger any more than we already do.) While this particular vehicle sports a Territory back half grafted onto a Ranger front end, odds are a public reveal of the finished product could occur as soon as the second half of 2014, making it a 2015 model. Head over to Carsguide.com.au for a closer look.
