Here is a beautiful, classic 1957 2-seater Ford Thunderbird with a strong running 312 cc V-8 engine, automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, original hubcaps and fender skirts, and two tops - a matching Colonial White hardtop with portholes, and a black cloth top.  The engine was rebuilt in 1997 (with new valves, hardened valve seats, etc.), soon after I bought the car, and power brakes were added; I later upgraded the brake system further to include front disc brakes.  The car was stripped to bare metal and repainted its code-correct Colonial White in 1999; I have included a few photos of the repaint process.   I replaced the non-working original Thunderbird AM radio with a new Thunderbird AM/FM radio with cassette.  The original code-correct black-and-white interior is clean and in great shape.  New parts and improvements:  fuel line, radial white-wall tires, weatherstripping, springs, voltage regulator, water pump, battery, exhaust system with resonators, expanded radiator, shocks, 6-blade fan and more!  The car runs and drives fine and has always been garaged.  Title is clear.  The odometer reading on the title, when I bought the car in 1997, was 124095, so it has only been driven about 16,000 miles since I bought it, and a bit less since the engine work was done.  I have all the bills and receipts for work done, parts purchased, etc., and will include the Thunderbird Shop Manual in the sale.   I have had lots of Fun, Fun, Fun with this great car over the years, but now it is time to make room in the garage for something else.

A deposit of $750 is required within 72 hours of the end of the auction, with full payment of balance expected within 7 days of end of auction by certified check.  It is the buyer's responsibility to arrange pick up and transportation of the vehicle.

Please feel free to email me with any questions prior to auction end.

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost flogged and analyzed by Ignition

Mon, 13 Oct 2014

Aside from the way it looks and perhaps its independent rear suspension, the biggest bit of news on the 2015 Mustang may be the inclusion of its 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That blown mill marks the first time since the Mustang SVO of the '80s that a turbo has been fitted under the engine of Ford's pony car.
The Mustang EcoBoost is the subject of the latest episode of Ignition from Motor Trend, giving us a great look at the technical, nitty-gritty side of the turbocharged coupe. Covering it from bow to stern, host Carlos Lago walks us through the boosted Ford before taking to the track for some driving impressions, with particular praise given to the low-end grunt of the 2.3-liter mill.
Check out the full video and then let us know which 2015 Mustang has your interest piqued the most - the EcoBoost four, the 5.0L V8 or the entry-level V6.

Autoblog joins Elon Musk and Danica Patrick in accepting ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Unless you've been living in an off-the-grid cabin in the woods for the last couple of weeks or abstain entirely from social media activities, you've probably seen someone you know dump a bucket of ice and water over their own head recently. While the origins of the so-called Ice Bucket Challenge are shrouded in a history typical of Internet memes, its effectiveness in raising money and awareness for the ALS Association has been astonishing.
Celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, sports, technology and more have generated untold millions of video views in support of the organization that is helping patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease), and generated a much needed influx of cash, as well. Recent reports have some $15.6M raised in the last two weeks.
Of course, the big-hearted world of automotive celebrities has taken part in the drenching charity effort as well. Follow on below for some of the biggest names on four wheels getting iced for charity, with a smattering of your favorite Autobloggers thrown in for good measure.

James Franco and tiger tease Ford Super Bowl commercial

Sat, 01 Feb 2014

Ford has just released a teaser for its Super Bowl ad, and unlike just about every other automaker, it seems that the Blue Oval is going to make us wait until Sunday to see the full spot. The teaser is, um, strange.
It stars James Franco, who believes he is Ron Riggle, the comedian, Fox NFL Sunday host and retired Marine lieutenant colonel. There's also a tiger. The vague spot has Franco claiming that "this is no ordinary commercial." You'll note on the bottom right, there's a Ford logo and the hashtag #nearlydouble.
According to Automotive News, it's part of a massive viral effort being pushed forward by Ford and its dealerships. Ford sent different teasers and "vignettes" to dealership employees and asked them to share them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, in the hopes of creating a viral effect.
