1960 Ford Thunderbird Base Convertible 2-door 5.8l on 2040-cars
Issaquah, Washington, United States
Hello all,
Here is a fantastic opertunity to get into a classic thunderbird convertible before the prices skyrocket. As many of you know the square birds are gaining a bunch of momentum with collectors!
Anyway, this is a 60 convertible that I have wanted to get for a long time, but I'm in the middle of an Xke and an Mga so space and time have become an issue for me. This is a greT project car needing little to be a drive as you go type resto. She runs and drives, just drove her 20 miles yesterday. Motor pulls quite well for a big car. Has a exhaust leak and a little bit of lifter tap, but for an old car she runs pretty good. Tranny shifts well and firm. With throat being said, she has not been regularly used for awhile so fluid change, carb clean etc will do wonders. Suspension is a bit sloppy, and brakes are eh.
The body on this car is why I bought her. While so many are just rusted away this one is remarkably solid. Only minor issues. No holes through that I have seen. The underside of the car looks real nice as does the trunk pan. Rockers, quarters, doors etc are all pretty nice. Trunk lid is not aligned properly. She does need a respray at some point as the paint leaves something to be desired.
Interior is workable, just depends what your doing with the car. New dash cap will do wonders. Seats are just ok, as is everything else. I have a bunch of new interior in the aqua and white color. New dash, console, door panels etc. gauges, steering wheel and chrome that I have are fantastic and is a good step towards restoration and can be included for a cost. Just would need seat covers and carpet and interior would be beautiful. The previous owner said windows and seats were working and he was going to restore the system. Not sure what he did but they are not working now, either is the top. Some gauges work, some don't.
Windshield is cracked but I have a nice replacement. Extra bumpers, and tons of misc parts can be included. Overall this is a great cosmetic resto project on a rare car. I do have a buy it now but am afraid to put it up due to scammers, please only call if serious about the car. 425-802-8682. Title was lost so a signed notarized affidavit in leau of title is included(as good as a title). thanks for looking and ask any questions as I'm sure I for got stuff.

Mulally confirms he's not leaving Ford for Microsoft
Tue, 07 Jan 2014In recent months, rumors had been flying about Ford CEO Alan Mulally potentially leaving the company to take a position at Microsoft. Last we heard, Mulally was planning to stick around at Ford through at least 2014, and in an interview today, that bit was confirmed by the CEO himself.
According to the Associated Press, in a report from The Detroit News, Mulally said he will not be leaving Ford for Microsoft, and reiterated that he will remain at the Blue Oval through 2014, if not longer. Mulally has "no plans other than to serve Ford," according to the report.
Mulally did not say whether or not he had been in talks with Microsoft at any point. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said he plans to leave the software company sometime this year.
J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.
Ford C-Max, Fusion hybrids subject of MPG lawsuit in California
Fri, 01 Mar 2013A California lawsuit over the fuel economy claims for the 2013 Ford C-Max was first reported back in December. Based on the numerous reports we've heard of disgruntled owners failing to get their car's EPA fuel economy ratings on the C-Max and 2013 Fusion Hybrid, we suspected there would be more to this story. The Detroit News is reporting that two California law firms are combining their lawsuits against Ford on this matter for "false and misleading" claims.
The article states that there are hundreds of C-Max and Fusion Hybrid owners who have joined the lawsuit, but the issue isn't limited to customers. In December, Consumer Reports extensively tested both the Fusion Hybrid and C-Max and found that both hybrids performed significantly worse than their EPA claims. This all comes just a few months after Hyundai and Kia took the unprecedented step of lowering the fuel economy ratings for all of their 2012 and 2013 model-year vehicles.
