HIGHLIGHTS:
- ORIGINAL PAINT
- RUST FREE CALIFORNIA CAR
- STORED UNDERCOVER SINCE 1988
- HISTORY: Purchased in 1988 in Paso Robles California from the original owner.
- Car has been stored since that time under cover with the intention of restoring it as my personal car unfortunately, priorities have shifted and I have decided to sell the vehicle.
- PAINT/INTERIOR: The car has the original candy-apple red paint over white interior and top - with the possible exception of the driver's side door which is original but may have been painted.
- BODY CONDITION: Body is in amazing condition for a 47 year old car - there are 2 small creases - 1 on the passenger fender and another on the deck lid and a couple of dings (see photos) - That's it! This is as easy of a body restore as you will find - no need to worry about rust or bondo - what you see is the body of the car as it rolled off the San Jose assembly line in the spring of 1966. NOTE: Photos show a key operated dead-switch installed in the front driver's side fender - I am including an extra fender that may be installed if desired.
- RUST: Outside of some minimal surface rust on the hood, deck lid and panel behind the rear seat, there is absolutely no body rust as the car has lived its life in a dry, salt free climate. The primer you see on the hood/deck lid was to protect them from further surface rust which was minimal.
- MECHANICAL: The car is in running condition but it is highly recommended that the car be trailered. Prior to starting the car the gas tank was drained and flushed, oil was changed and cooling system flushed. New spark plug wires were installed and the car started right-up!!! Currently a 1972 Ford 390 engine is installed but the original engine and transmission are included as well. I would recommend that the car be gone through mechanically before taking it on any long trips. Other notes:
- The A/C unit is included but the A/C is not working.
- Headlights, Blinkers, Emergency Flasher, and Sequential taillights are functional.
- Heater/Blower are not functioning.
- Power Top needs new, OEM switch installed (included)
- FM radio is functional - Extra 8-track player is included (functional status is unknown).
- Power Seat is functional excepting for center control switch is broken but I am including a replacement switch (that will need to be installed) as well as a spare power seat motor.
- INTERIOR: Interior is complete but the car will need an interior seat kit including carpet. Interior trim is in good shape excepting the pillar trim pieces which have a fair amount of pitting. The original dash appears to be in perfect shape!
- TOP: Top is in fair condition; there is a 3 inch tear in the center of the top just behind the front-most top-bow and the rear window needs replacement.
- PARTS INCLUDED - I am including the following parts:
- NOS set of taillights
- NOS set of chrome levers for soft top frame.
- 8-track player.
- NOS control switch for soft top.
- Driver's side fender.
- Power seat control and extra motor
- Original Motor & Transmission.
- BUY IT NOW: If "Buy It Now" is used or if the sale price exceeds $8000, I will include the following extra parts:
- Front & Rear Bumpers
- Left & Right Headlight Buckets
- Cruise Control Main control unit.
- Sequential Taillight control Unit
- 4 BBL Carb
- Headrest for passenger seat
- NUMEROUS interior & exterior aluminum/stainless trim pieces.
- Seat Backs
- Extra set of taillights and taillight housing.
- Extra A/C compressor.
- Front Grill
- MILEAGE: Odometer shows 40K - I'm assuming that mileage is 140K.
NOTE: Buyer must cover cost of shipping for vehicle & all spare parts.
FINAL THOUGHTS: If you are looking for a solid, rust free, T-Bird convertible to restore - this is it! I was excited to find an "unmolested" example back in 1988 - finding one 25 years later is very rare opportunity indeed...

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
Next Ford Raptor spotted wearing aluminum skin
Wed, 07 May 2014Well, look at what we have here. Judging from these spy shots, Ford is indeed working on the next generation of its off-road-ready F-150 Raptor pickup truck. We've made no attempt to hide our appreciation for the Baja-style truck, which combines most of the usability of a fullsize truck with heavy-duty suspension components to make a kind of performance vehicle that is unique in the market.
What we haven't known, until now, is whether Ford would push forward with its Raptor program now that it has a completely new F-150 to serve as its base. And that's especially true since Ford made the bold move of switching the bodywork of its best-seller from tried-and-true steel to aluminum. As you can see above, the front and rear of this silver truck are clad in current-gen Raptor bodywork, while the center section that houses the occupants appears to come from the upcoming 2015 F-150.
Dissecting the views above, we note a few interesting tidbits. First, there looks to be a bulge in the truck's hood. Second, we see a new grille between the current Raptor's headlights, sporting a mesh finish and two horizontal bars. Lastly, our eyes can't help but lock in on those burly A-arm suspension pieces down below, not to mention all that ground clearance the specialty suspenders bring to the table.
NHTSA investigating Ford Fiesta for faulty door latches
Mon, 15 Sep 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation on the 2011-2013 Ford Fiesta because the regulator has received 61 complaints from drivers, including one claim of an injury, about the doors on the subcompacts failing to latch and sometimes even flying open while driving. NHTSA has estimated that the problem could affect as many as 205,000 vehicles.
NHTSA is still gathering further data about the problem, but looking at the complaints so far, both front and rear doors appear to be potentially involved with the alleged failures. Among the reports, there are 12 claiming that the door opened while driving. Several also indicate the "Door Ajar" warning illuminating during this problem. The one purported injury happened when someone attempted to shut the door, and it bounced back.
Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker told Autoblog via email, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the report from NHTSA.
