1971 Ford Torino 500. This car has been sitting since 1996. Ran when parked by a friend who got it in a divorce. She let it sit to rot for spite.  We bought it from her 2 years ago with intent to refurbish but have realized we are not going to get it done.  This car appears to have been repainted. Complete motor, carb is off the engine because the linkage is locked up.  Body has been repainted (pre 1996) but appears pretty solid.  Front drives side floor shows some rust through floor.  All glass is good.  Rear spoiler and tail lights may not be stock and may be off of a GT, buyer to determine.  Has 4 matching beauty rings and hub caps.  I am happy to answer quetions and take additional pictures, just ask. Car is selling as is (unrunning) with a clean title.

CLARIFICATION:  The odometer reading is not actual (it has turned over once).  I failed to add a 1 to the beginning of the number when entering the mileage.  My husband just called this error to my attention and we certainly don't want to misrepresent this car.  Please accept my apologies and make note of this change.

2013 Ford Explorer Sport

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

When one speaks of sporty and fun-to-drive utility vehicles, few would put the Ford Explorer in the same category as the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne. Yet, with just a few reservations, I'd toss the new-for-2013 Ford Explorer Sport close to that arena for consideration.
As a recap, the sportiest of Explorers is fitted with Ford's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6, making 365 horsepower and 350 pound feet of torque. Acceleration is brisk (figure about 7 seconds to 60 miles per hour), as power goes to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Contributing to its more athletic demeanor are larger front brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, chassis upgrades, quicker steering ratio and a more aggressive wheel/tire package. Cosmetically, the Sport is distinguished by its blacked-out lights, black trim and noticeable lack of chrome (with the exception of the door handles).
Ford recently handed me the keys to a Ruby Red Metallic Explorer Sport. Rather than mindlessly drive the big seven-passenger all-wheel drive hauler in soccer mom circles around Los Angeles, I loaded up my family and embarked on a long weekend road trip to Yosemite National Park.

Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.

RWD Lincolns are coming, fate depends partly on MKZ success

Tue, 04 Dec 2012

The product portfolio at Lincoln may seem a bit sparse at the moment, but if a report is to be believed, new products are on the way. TheDetroitBureau.com spoke with sources at Lincoln and Ford, who claimed the American premium brand is working on, perhaps more than one, rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
Lincoln would likely platform-share with the next-generation Ford Mustang to develop those RWD offerings in the early going. Moving forward, the report indicates that Lincoln could take the lead on other rear-drive projects in the future. As the RWD architecture continues to take shape, "most or all" of the front-wheel-drive portfolio will also be offered with all-wheel drive as an option, ala Audi.
But wait, there's more! The report also suggests that a replacement for the full-size MKS is on the way, as well as a new Navigator and a luxury crossover based on the current Ford Escape.
