1976 Ford Gran Torino S&h Tribute on 2040-cars
Hughesville, Maryland, United States
1976 Gran Torino Starsky and Hutch tribute car all original numbers matching car. 351 engine & FMX trans in great running condition. I have had 3 professional mechanics that all have agreed that they believe the mileage to be accurate but because of the age of the car that can't be guaranteed. The car runs and drives great. Very nice ride. New Replaced items include wheels and tires, frt and rear brakes, front shocks and rear air shocks, radiator, battery, plugs and wires, steering gear box, rag joint, carpet, headliner, sail panels and rear speaker deck panel. paint is 1 1/2 yrs old. heater works, all lights work, AC is all there but does not work. Rebuilt carburetor. Interior is in excellent shape. Most of the parts that were taken off of the car emission and trim pieces etc. go with the car. All gauges except the clock naturally ha work and are very clear. All original glass. I have new door rubber and 1 gallon of red paint to finish the door jams, under hood and trunk lid that will also be included with car. There is a small chip in paint which when painting the door jams will take care of that because its right on the drivers side door opening. There is a small leak in oil pan gasket so I am including a brand new gasket. I have driven this car on 300 mile round trips twice with no problems. This car has placed in Car shows and is a head turner and truly an attention getter. Very Dependable driver . If you don't like attention this would not be the car for you. I have had several nice cars in the past but nothing even comes close to the attention this car has brought. It puts smiles on peoples faces just from remembering the TV show. I wish I had a dime for every time I heard hey Starsky and Hutch. I will miss this car greatly as it was one of my dream cars but I need the money sadly for other things so its time to make someone else's dream come true. I have tried to include everything that I can think of but will probably miss something that's been done. Oh one thing worth mentioning is it has the much desired 9 inch Nodular rear end. I am also including the red police light. I recently purchased the black pin striping to border the white paint and I will also include that with the purchase. I have tried to be as honest as possible to my knowledge about the cars condition and you can see that my feedback is 100%. Good luck with the bidding. Buyer is fully responsible for shipping the vehicle.

MyFord Touch getting second update, extended warranty
Wed, 28 Nov 2012There is no doubt that Ford has had its hands full fielding complaints with its MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch systems these days, but looking to keep its customers happy, Ford is once again upgrading its infotainment systems and extending the warranties. Despite having just sent out updates for its systems back in March, Automotive News says that customers are still complaining about the speed and ease of use.
Vehicles with MyFord Touch will now get a five-year, unlimited-mile warranty, while the MyLincoln Touch will have a six-year, unlimited-mile warranty. Previously, the systems were covered under basic warranties (three-year, 36,000-mile for Ford and four-year, 60,000-miles for Lincoln).
What is being referred to as "version 3.5" for the MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch systems will be mailed out (or downloaded) next month for owners of cars without navigation and in January for cars with nav. Owners of hybrids, plug-ins and electric vehicles will get the update sometime in the first quarter of next year.
2015 Ford F-150 shaves 700 pounds, adds 2.7-liter EcoBoost [w/video]
Mon, 13 Jan 2014The Ford F-150 is one of the best selling vehicles on the planet. Considering that, one can imagine that when it comes time for a redesign, there are hardly any half measures. For its lucky thirteenth generation, Ford has gone all-in on the single most important vehicle in its portfolio, redesigning it from the ground up.
The big news is the F-150's new, lightweight, Atlas-inspired body. Ninety-three percent of that new body is made from a sort of aluminum alloy not unlike what the US military uses in its M2 Bradley fighting vehicles and Humvees, and it accounts for up to 70 percent of the F-150's 700-pound weight reduction. As a side benefit, the aluminum body should prove more resistant to dents and dings. Built Ford tough, indeed.
If you're wondering where the other 30 percent of that 700-pound weight loss went, 8.5 percent (60 pounds) came from the increased use of high-strength steel (up from 23 percent to 77 percent) in its ladder-box frame. Ford claims this steel is comparable to some of the heavy duty pickups used by its competitors, with a PSI rating of 70,000.
Experts wonder if aluminum F-150 gives Ford a real advantage
Mon, 17 Mar 2014There's no doubt that Ford is taking a risk in producing the body of its upcoming new F-150 pickup truck in aluminum. What is up for debate, however, is whether aluminum was a wise risk to take in the first place. Wards Auto took the opportunity to poll some experts on the subject of aluminum versus steel in the automotive sector, with somewhat unsurprising results.
Richard Schultz, a project consultant at Ducker Worldwide, which bills itself as "a leading aluminum industry consultant (though they also deal in steels), suggests that the potential drawbacks to aluminum - higher costs, lower supply - aren't really impediments to the auto industry's increased acceptance of the lightweight metal.
Similarly, Randall Scheps, global automotive marketing director for Alcoa, a massive aluminum producer, counters claims that aluminum is less safe for vehicle occupants, suggesting that the use of aluminum can actually increase safety as it could potentially allow for larger vehicles with more crush space than steel.
