Up for sale is our 2000 Ford Windstar, we have owned this vehicle for almost three years it has been very dependable and driven daily.
The engine runs great and the transmission shifts smoothly, this would make a good second vehicle with 7 passenger seating capacity.
As with any vehicle used regularly there are a few things I need to mention. This van is 13 years old and has various dings, scratches and blemishes
to prove it. In addition we live in northern PA where our vehicles take a daily salt bath in the winter whether they need it or not. As a result there is some rust forming
on the rockers, including one hole (see picture) and around the rear wheel wells. With that said this van is still in good condition, but not perfect. All the
recall work that I am aware of has been preformed by the dealer, including Fords cruise control problem, and the frame and axle work Windstars were recalled
for. There are a couple of issues, the front door  power locks do not lock or unlock the 2 front doors, the other locks work fine. The passenger sliding door
does not open from the inside, it is a plastic clip that has broken and does not hold the cable in place.I've fixed it twice, its good for awhile and comes loose again.
The backup lights are on when the transmission is in park, I had to replace the neutral safety switch 6 months ago and didn't get it adjusted just right, but it shifts
and drives just fine. New battery 08/12, new front tires 10,000 miles ago, back tires are 40-50%. PA inspection till 08/13.
This vehicle does need rear brakes, oil change and the plenum kit installed on the intake manifold. As you can see from my code reader 0171 & 0174 are the only
2 codes showing. If you google it those 2 codes indicate a breakdown of the rubber grommets holding the intake manifold to the top of the engine, when that happens
it allows oil to seep out and additional air to be drawn in throwing the codes. I was going to fix it when the weather got better, it hasn't yet. I use about a quart of oil
between changes, I found I could live with that.     http://leckemby.net/windstar/windstar01.html    This is a link to a web page the describes the procedure. I was planning
on buying a "Kit" with the necessary parts from Carquest I assume others have them as well. Ford also seems to have a problem with some of their ABS lights and this
van is no exception the light does not stay on but does come on occasionally, and then it will stay off and trouble free for several weeks, I suspect it is a wheel sensor but I'm not
sure which one. That about does it. This has been a good van and is in good shape, I just don't want anyone to get any surprises, if you have questions please ask if you are local
come and look/drive. I will work with anyone you choose as shipper or will do my best to accommodate you if you decide to pickup. Yes we could reach an agreement on the rear
brakes, if you intend to drive this any distance. The rear hatch looks like it was replaced by the previous owner I didn't realize that until I took the license plate off and saw the
salvage yard mark. It looks like some one tried to cover it up with some spray paint which is probably why I didn't notice it till I removed the plate.  Thanks and good luck.

NHTSA investigating Ford Fiesta for faulty door latches

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation on the 2011-2013 Ford Fiesta because the regulator has received 61 complaints from drivers, including one claim of an injury, about the doors on the subcompacts failing to latch and sometimes even flying open while driving. NHTSA has estimated that the problem could affect as many as 205,000 vehicles.
NHTSA is still gathering further data about the problem, but looking at the complaints so far, both front and rear doors appear to be potentially involved with the alleged failures. Among the reports, there are 12 claiming that the door opened while driving. Several also indicate the "Door Ajar" warning illuminating during this problem. The one purported injury happened when someone attempted to shut the door, and it bounced back.
Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker told Autoblog via email, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the report from NHTSA.

This 2,000-hp Mustang is in serious need of wheelie bars

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

The Ford Mustang on the right is drag racing with the standard technique. The Mustang on the left, driven by David Measell, is using a new "rear bumper only" technique that evidently surprised everyone at the South Georgia Motorsports Park strip - including Measell.
Measell said his outfit just bought the car the week before the event, noting that it has more than 2,000 horsepower. Speaking of his "flying" run, Measell said, "We turned it up to dip on down," by which he meant they turned up the power in order to get his time down. Turns out all that power and all that traction sent the nose straight up into the air almost as soon as the race began.
He told an interviewer afterward that this was his first race in a "regular car" since he normally drives a pro-mod. "I like my wheelie bars," he concluded. You can see how he got there in the video below.

Find out if the Ford Fiesta ST can match Europe's latest hot hatches

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

The V8 grunt of the Mustang has defined Ford performance cars in the US for the last 50 years, but in Europe, the Blue Oval has nearly as a long history of building some of the best hot hatches on the market with the Fiesta, Escort and later the Focus. The latest Fiesta ST has just hit the roads on both sides of the pond and has been enthusiastically received thanks to its combination of a peppy, turbocharged engine and hatchback utility.
However, Europe is getting a bumper crop of hot hatches at the moment, including the forthcoming, third-generation Mini Cooper S. Should Ford have waited to launch the ST until it knew how the competition performed? That's the answer that Xcar is after in its latest video, and it took the Fiesta to the track and some very misty, Welsh roads to find out. Scroll down to find out whether the ST stacks up.
