This is a clean, unabused, adult driven 1988 Jimmy. This truck has been my daily driver for the last 5 years, and is virtually rust free. The paint is in good condition, with the exception of the roof with the typical sun damage. The seats are in serviceable condition, but really could use new covers due to cracks. The rear seat is not pictured, but has a small crack in the center due to throwing a suitcase on it on a sub zero morning...oops. The truck would be perfect for a daily driver, or a restoration due to the straightness of the body and maintenance that has already been performed. I have spared no expense in the maintenance of the truck in the 36,000 miles I have put on it. I installed a rebuilt vortec 350 in it at 140k with all new components. It still has the factory style throttle body(turbo city, new) on a GM Performance vortec/TBI intake with properly functioning EGR,headers, etc. last year I upgraded the A/C to a Sanden compressor with the appropriate R134 6mm condenser, new evaporator, accumulator, etc. the rear end was completely rebuilt with a new 3.42 gear set, bearings, seals(can't remember if it is Richmond or Yukon). Everything on the truck works. The power windows are fast(relay), the rear still needs some help up, cruise works, power door locks work, all window seals and rubber(rear top rubber too) are less than 3 years old. Tires are <25k mile Yokohama Geolandar. This truly is a hop in and go, no surprises(for a 26yr old car) 17.5mpg@80mph daily driver. I'm sure there are details that I am forgetting, but please don hesitate to ask me any questions, as I know the old truck pretty well.

GM to unveil new SUVs at the State Fair of Texas?

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

With General Motors just having rolled out its new fullsize truck twins - the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra - for 2014, now it seems to be time to focus on its big SUVs. The Truth About Cars is reporting that the 2015 Chevy Tahoe/Suburban and 2015 GMC Yukon lineup will be making their debuts later next month at the State Fair of Texas, which kicks off on September 27.
To date, we've only seen spy shots of the new Chevy and GMC SUVs (shown above in Yukon XL guise). Based on those spies both trucks seem to be taking a different styling direction than their pickup truck counterparts - just check out the Ford-looking headlight design on the next-gen Chevys.
We reached out to GM for comment and heard back simply that there is no official announcement about the new Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon. Still, the report definitely makes a solid leap of logic, as Texas is a top market for GM's fullsize SUV lineup. It also appears that GM is still planning a separate launch for the next-gen Cadillac Escalade.

GM can't keep up with most popular pickup orders

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

With the market for pickup trucks at its best since before the recession, General Motors can't afford any hiccups with the launch of its new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, but it sounds like the popularity of V8-powered trucks is causing some supply-chain issues. Bloomberg reports that GM is experiencing a shortage of 5.3-liter V8 engines because an unnamed parts supplier has been unable to keep up with demand. This is leading GM to restrict the number of V8 Silverado and Sierra trucks that Chevrolet and GMC dealers are allowed to order.
Although it's unclear how long it will take to resolve the parts shortage, GM doesn't have much time to sort it out, as a new Ford F-150 looms on the horizon. At launch, GM's fullsize trucks were offered only with a base 4.3-liter V6 and the 5.3-liter V8, but a burlier 6.2-liter V8 will be available soon. Interestingly, at least at the moment, GM truck buyers don't seem as willing to downsize to V6 power as buyers of the F-150, which gets some 42-percent of its sales from trucks equipped with its EcoBoost V6 engine (not including the normally aspirated base V6).
Working out the kinks in the Silverado and Sierra's supply chain couldn't be more important to the health of the company. Full-size pickups are a huge profit driver - in 2012, the trucks were said to make up about two-third of GM's total profits.

Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon midsize pickup trucks to get diesel engines

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

The market for midsize pickup trucks has all but been abandoned in the US, but General Motors is about to shake the market up with the all-new (to the US) Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Launching next year, GM already told us that its new trucks would be a "fuel-efficient alternative" to fullsize trucks, and aside from the smaller size, Automotive News says that these trucks will accomplish this with a diesel engine.
According to the AN report, the next-gen Colorado and Canyon will offer a small, four-cylinder Duramax turbo diesel with a displacement of either 2.5 or 2.8 liters - both engines are currently used in this truck for other markets. This would allow GM to join the Cummins-powered Nissan Titan and Ram 1500 EcoDiesel as the only non-HD trucks in the US to offer diesel. The article goes on to say that the diesel versions of the Colorado and Canyon would launch about a year after the trucks go into production in fall of 2014.
