Offered for sale is my 1988 GMC Sierra Short Bed 1500 pickup. Over $20,000 was spent on this professional build. Powered by a Corvette 350 tune port EFI (electronic fuel injected) engine with a mild cam (2000 miles on the professional build) - 375 HP - TH400 automatic transmission (rebuilt with the engine) with a brand new B&M shifter mounted in a custom console - Ice cold AC - power windows - door locks - tilt steering column - power driver seat - Pioneer AM/FM/CD with amplifier behind driver seat - professionally lowered 4" using a Beltech lowering system with a built in air bag compressor for the rear shocks - hidden trailer hitch - shaved tail gate handle - 20" chrome IROC wheels with Toyo proxies - shorty headers with Flowmasters with chrome exhaust tips - K&N cold air intake - excellent chrome - This truck is gorgeous and sounds incredible. It is also very fast. It handles like a Corvette. This is a rust free custom pickup that turns heads wherever you go. Drive it across country or use it daily! It has always been garage kept. The speedometer is not working right now as I intended on putting in a Dakota Digital dash however the tachometer, oil pressure, voltage, temperature and fuel gauges all work perfectly. Call Jim at 781-659-4200 or e-mail me with any questions. I reserve the right to cancel this offering at any time as it is for sale locally. There is no warranty expressed or implied in the sale of this custom pickup truck. A $500 deposit through Paypal is required within 24 hours of auction end and the balance must be wired via bank transfer or by check upon clearance and payment. I would prefer an adult owner as this truck is very fast and needs a responsible driver (I have grandchildren)! Buyer is responsible for shipping but I will gladly accommodate or drive it home. The only reason I am selling this gorgeous street rod is that I am retiring and moving! Call me if you want to make a cash offer! My loss is your gain! No disappointments! This is a turnkey truck with a lot of time and money spent on this project. The paint job alone was $8800.00.

This truck is also exceptionally good on gas because of the EFI, the exhaust and the rear end gears 3.73. It runs on regular fuel and gets approximately 20 mpg city and 25 highway.

THE PRICE IS LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT I OWN IT FOR!

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.

New J.D. Power Initial Quality Study puts Porsche, GM in spotlight

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

J.D. Power and Associates has released its annual Initial Quality Study, and this year, Porsche and General Motors took the spotlight. The study, which asks new car owners to report problems experienced during the first 90 days of ownership, found that overall, the industry averages 113 problems per 100 vehicles.
Porsche managed a score of just 80 problems per 100 vehicles, while GMC took the second spot on the podium with 90. Lexus filled out the top three with 94 problems per 100 vehicles, followed by Infiniti at 95 and Chevrolet at 97. The study also looks at specific models, and found the Lexus LS to enjoy the best initial quality at 59 problems per 100 vehicles.
Interestingly enough, the report found that around two-thirds of most owner problems experienced in the first 90 days are attributable to vehicle design instead of mechanical failure. Specifically - echoing a refrain we've been hearing for the last few years - owners are having a hard time figuring out how to use the technology present in their new vehicles. Head over to the J.D. Power site for more information, or scroll down below for the company's related press release.
