1992 Gmc Typhoon, Low Miles, Amazing Condition on 2040-cars
Orion, Illinois, United States
This 1992 GMC Typhoon is in terrific condition. It's quick, tons of fun and very unique.
90% of it was repainted last yet, so the exterior is amazing (9.5/10). The interior is also in very good condition (9/10). This Typhoon is very well maintained. Tune up/all fluids/bushings/etc all complete within last year. Current on all maintenance (two exceptions below). Pictures are with Corvette wheels. I also have the stock wheels available, but like the look of the Corvette wheels better. This Typhoon is all stock except I fixed all of the reliability problems Typhoons are known for: - Aftermarket HD front propshaft (driveshaft) (stock one can break, damaging many other items when it goes). - Upgraded brakes. - HD motor mounts and torque strap (stock Typhoon have so much torque, the motor mounts frequently break). - ABS delete (stock unit is known to fail, causing brake failure). - Aftermarket tune (stock tune can over-boost and cause spark knock, causing cracked pistons). - Carbon-fiber intake tube (stock one is known to crack and send plastic through the turbo). The negatives: - There is a small cut in the driver's seat (see picture). - A few touch up paint spots on driver's front fender (see picture). - Motor needs valve seals ($400). I haven't had time to do it. No risk to motor, just a small puff of smoke at start-up. - A/C holds coolant for only a few weeks. I haven't done any troubleshooting on this yet. - Carbon fiber intake needs refinished (see picture). Overall this Typhoon is amazing and ready to drive every day without hassle. It'll bring a smile to your face at every stoplight! |

2015 GMC Canyon gets the party started [w/video]
Sun, 12 Jan 2014The 2014 Detroit Auto Show press days officially kick off tomorrow, but the night before all the madness commences, General Motors drove its new 2015 GMC Canyon pickup truck out for all to see. To refresh your memory, the Canyon is GMC's new midsize pickup - essentially a re-skinned version of the Chevrolet Colorado that debuted at the LA Auto Show in November.
Many of us at Autoblog prefer the look of the larger GMC Sierra to that of its Chevy Silverado kin, and we're having similar feelings about the new Canyon, especially after seeing it in person. It's sort of a pint-sized version of the Sierra, and it looks great. Clean lines are found throughout, and the Canyon's styling is decidedly premium.
At launch, the Canyon will be offered with the same engines as the Colorado - a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque on the base end, and a larger 3.6-liter V6 with 302 hp and 270 lb-ft as an option. The Colorado's 2.8-liter diesel inline four-cylinder will be available after launch. Both two- and four-wheel drive configurations will be available, depending on the model.
eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
GMC Canyon will debut in Detroit
Fri, 20 Dec 2013With the debut of the Chevrolet Colorado at November's Los Angeles Auto Show, perhaps it was only a matter of time before we saw the small truck's GMC counterpart. That time will be January, as we've received official confirmation that the GMC Canyon will be revived at next month's North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The news came in the latest issue of the Detroit Auto Show's newsletter, NAIAS Connect. The article hasn't been posted online quite yet, but it details the Canyon as one of the world production debuts slated for the show.
While we've heard rumors that the Canyon would arrive in Detroit, this is our first concrete bit of evidence. As we've detailed before, we expect the Canyon to be stylistically quite different than the Colorado, though the underpinnings will be shared. The teaser image we have above is currently our only look at the new truck. We'll hopefully have more details in the next few weeks as the GMC Canyon draws closer to its official debut.
