History

Up for sale is my 2006 Honda Civic LX. It has 90,776 miles on it as of this writing, 45,000 of those miles put on by me in the past 2 1/2 years I have owned it. I bought this car as an economical way to get back and forth to a project I was at which was 150 miles from home. I bought the car from a local seller myself.  The CarFAX I ran at the time showed it to be clean and well maintained.  When I went and drove it, I could see it was correct.   Since the project ended in late 2011, I have used this car as my primary work car. Since I travel a lot as part of my job, many of my miles are highway to and from airports. This car has given me excellent service and gets excellent mileage. On the highway with cruise, it will easily get 37-39 mpg. Worst I have seen in city type driving is the low 30s mpg. A very economical car. So why am I selling? Just don't need it. My wife has a van and I have a truck that serves us well and we don't need a third car setting around.

Features

Although this is an LX model, I did upgrade the wheels on this car to those you would find on an EX or sportier model. I bought Honda OEM wheels and had new tires, Toyo Extensa, installed on the car. I think they make the car look good. I also installed the Honda OEM Aux inport port for the radio and use it with a Bluetooth adapter.

Condition

Although this car has been very well maintained, with me performing all the regular oil and filter changes (including regular transmission fluid drain and fills), this car is by no means perfect.  I will list the items below any buyer should be aware of:

1.) In 2012 I struck a deer on the way back from Cincinnati on OH-32.  The car, although drivable, needed repair to bring it back to the condition you see in the pictures.  A new hood, grille, radiator and A/C coil were replaced on the car with appropriate paint work to make the car match.  The car has driven perfect for me, just like it did before the deer strike.  The lost photo in this ad shows the amount of damage that was taken from the deer hit.

2.)  On the passenger side there are a couple of door dings, one on each door.  The one on the rear passenger door was there when I bought the car and is the most noticeable in the pictures.  The one on the front passenger door is a standard parking lot door ding that I received while at the Columbus Airport during one of my trips.

3.) On the post of the driver side windshield it is dented and scratched (see pictures).  This was due to a coal truck kicking up a rock as I was driving in western Virginia visiting a plant.  I guess I was lucky it did not hit the window, but it did dent the paint as you can see.

4.) On the painted air dam at the bottom front of the car you will see paint missing.  This is due to parking too close to a curb at the Columbus Airport (hard to see when covered with snow).  No damage to car, but as you can see, the paint was taken off.

5.)  The Toyo tires wear very slowly, meaning they are hard.  Good to drive on, but they have gotten noisy as they have aged.  Civics are not known for their sound isolation and you can hear the tires.

6.)  The car is missing the jack.  It came this way to me.  I do not plan on including a jack in this sale.  If it is insisted upon, I will just buy a jack form Walmart but that is it.

The car although in great shape and fun to drive is being sold with no warranty and as-is.  To my knowledge there are no pending issues with the car, but it does have 91K miles on it.  This is a good, solid car.  Please contact me with any questions you may have.

Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.

Honda CEO says we shouldn't expect any new sports cars

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

It wasn't so long ago that Honda was known for its sporty two-door models, with models ranging from the Civic del Sol to the Prelude and from the Acura Integra and RSX to the Honda S2000. But look at its range today and all you'll see are the Civic and Accord coupes. Honda has essentially let competitors like the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ and Nissan 370Z take the place it once claimed as its own. But if you were hoping Honda would fight back with a new coupe or convertible of its own, we're afraid you're going to have to downgrade those hopes to pipe dreams.
While in Japan ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show, Autoblog had a chance to sit down with American Honda CEO Tetsuo Iwamura (pictured at right). When we asked about the potential for a new sports coupe or convertible in the Honda or Acura lineup, he pointed to the current Civic and Accord coupes - not to mention the upcoming new NSX - but said that Honda has no replacement for any of the aforementioned models (or a rival for the FR-S or 370Z) in the pipeline, saying only that the company is monitoring potential demand.
What Iwamura-san did note was that he's a personal fan of the new S660 roadster (pictured above) set to be unveiled tomorrow, and he is pushing (or at least hoping) that it will come to North America. Given that he's head of both Honda's American office and its global automobile operations, one might think that the only person he would have to persuade is himself (well... himself, and potential buyers), but the sporty droptop looks to be about kei-sized, which sadly suggests that it may be too small for American tastes and perhaps not designed with US crash-test standards in mind anyway.

Honda shines the spotlight on Project Drive-In success

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

Project Drive-In, a Honda-sponsored campaign to save drive-in theaters across the country, is beginning to bear fruit, as the first theaters have been informed that they'll be getting free digital projectors. Many theaters still use 35-millimeter film, which is being phased out rather aggressively in the movie industry. The move to digital, meanwhile, requires nearly a six-figure investment, forcing many drive-ins to close up shop for good.
The first phase of the campaign saw the public vote for their favorite drive-in, with the top five getting a free digital projector, courtesy of Honda. There's some touching reaction videos of the owners being informed that they'd won down below. The next phase in the program takes place on Indiegogo, where Project Drive-In is trying to raise $100,000 for the drive-in that's gotten the next highest number of votes. If the Indiegogo campaign reaches that figure before its expiration on October 7, it'll make the donation and reset the meter to save another theater.
Take a look down below for the video from Honda on Project Drive-In, and then do yourselves a favor, and head over to the Project Drive-In Indiegogo campaign, and make a donation.
