Exterior:
OEM front lip
Mugen replica side skirts and rear spats
Acura TSX Silverstar wheels 17x7

JDM fogs (non-working due to I/C piping)

The Good:
All parts have under 3000 miles:
New timing belt & water pump
New clutch (RPS Stage 3)
New OEM brake calipers, discs & pads
New tires (Hankook Ventus evo v12)

The Bad:
Piston rings are worn, allowing excessive blow-by. The car runs fine and is very powerful but does smoke. The catch cans eliminate the smoke under throttle but at idle it does get smoky. At some point new rings/pistons are needed.
A/C line rubbed against the I/C piping and wore a hole. Needs a new line and the A/C system serviced.
a/d/s amplifier has some channels not working, needs a new amp.
The AEM pump stopped working, so need a new pump ($100). You can run without it but WMI is a great safety feature.
Front bumper tabs are broken, fenders have been drilled for bumper quick release
Rear passenger fender has rust & a crease
Front of hood has usual rock chips and paint has slight bubbles from having a bra on it

This is a great car for someone willing to put a little time into it. The paint is still shiny and glossy. The interior dash, carpets and seats are very clean. I would love to keep it but I have a 7 month old at home and no time to work on the car.

2015 Honda CR-V performs poorly in Swedish AWD test [w/video]

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Swedish auto magazine Teknikens Värld has never been afraid to call out automakers when a vehicle fails one of its battery of examinations. Its famous Moose Test recently caught the Porsche Macan out, and a few years ago, there was a protracted argument between Teknikens Värld and Jeep over the performance of a Grand Cherokee in that evaluation.
This time, the 2015 Honda CR-V is raising the magazine's hackles, but it has nothing to do with avoiding a giant mammal. Snow is obviously an issue in Sweden, and Teknikens Värld has a test that challenges all-wheel drive systems in low-traction settings. On a slanted surface, the Swedes put the vehicles' front wheels on rollers with no traction and demands the rears accelerate away. The Honda couldn't do it. Teknikens Värld claims that it initially found the same result last year from the European CR-V, but Honda Sweden put out a software upgrade correcting the behavior in the test. This year, the CUV went back to failing.
While that's the magazine's side, Honda Sweden doesn't see the test as fair. In a statement to Teknikens Värld, the company explains the way the CUV's all-wheel drive system works. It also claims that the test isn't simulating a realistic situation. "In real conditions, regardless of the surface, there is a certain amount of friction always available for both front and rear wheels," the announcement says. "A scenario like the roll test with such a high difference in grip between the front and the rear wheels is highly unlikely."

eBay Find of the Day: 1985 Honda City Turbo II is JDM forbidden fruit you can own

Fri, 14 Feb 2014

It's always fun to cruise different global eBay Motors sites and check out the cars that we never got here. Thankfully, America's 25-year import limit on cars means that some of the rarities from the 80s are finally legal on these shores. This 1985 Honda City Turbo II is a great example of a fun, little car that we never got new but can be made legal here now.
The City was basically the Japanese company's '80s equivalent of today's Fit, albeit significantly smaller. The little urban runabout was so popular in its basic form that Honda decided to take things up a notch and turbocharge it. That car sold enough to warrant an even higher performance version called the Turbo II, which added an intercooler and the flared fenders you see here. The latter helped it earn the nickname "bulldog" for its boxy, aggressive appearance.
Honda claimed at the time that its little 1.2-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder produced 109 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque with a five-speed manual. In a car that weight just 1,620 pounds, you can imagine it was a very entertaining little package.

This is what Honda's new F1 engine will sound like

Fri, 18 Oct 2013

It appears that not even the legendary pairing of McLaren and Honda can produce a 2015-regulation Formula One engine that sounds as good as the current V8s. Much like Mercedes-AMG Petronas, McLaren Honda have released a clip of their turbocharged, 1.6-liter V6 ahead of next season, and well, at least to our ears, it's not the sweetest of singers.
We've reported on concerns that the new engines wouldn't sound "right," after years of the high-revving V8s and V10s. The more we're hearing of these new engines, the more reasonable those worries seem. That said, we'll need to wait until we really hear these cars driven in anger to render a final verdict.
Scroll down to view the official press release from Honda and to hear what the future McLaren Honda will sound like when it hits the grid in 2015. For comparison, we've also included some on-board footage of Jenson Button's McLaren's V8 from last season.
