1988 Isuzu Trooper 2.8 Turbo Diesel - Very Unique And Tough, Bio-diesel Ready. on 2040-cars

Year:1988 Mileage:111111

Rockville, Minnesota, United States

Very unique 1988 Isuzu Trooper with legendary 2.8 Isuzu (4JB1-T) intercooled turbo diesel conversion.  Very meticulous conversion done, with tons of documentation and history available upon request.  Ready to run on bio-diesel or pump diesel.  As it sits, this Trooper runs and drives beautifully.  Starts quicker than any other vehicle I've driven - gas or diesel.  Runs strong and smoothly, and drives well - though the extra weight of the diesel engine is somewhat noticeable.  Very smooth shifting 5-speed manual transmission with a new clutch that engages quite smoothly. All steering and suspension components appear to be tight and in good shape.  Brakes stop as they should.  Really, a pleasure to drive. The body on this truck is surprisingly straight for an 88, though the paint is not the best and there is one large rust spot on the smaller rear door (I have tried to show all of the paint defects in the pictures).  The underbody and frame appear to be solid, as do the body mounts.  Tires have plenty of tread, but do have some minor weather checking.  Interior seats are good, trim is intact, carpet is getting a bit frayed and is stained in places.  Windshield is cracked and should likely be replaced - all other glass is good including vent windows.  Mechanically this vehicle is absolutely a beast - if you aren't familiar with the design of this model trooper, or the 2.8 turbo diesel, do a little research on the google and see what others have to say.  This truck is truly all drivetrain, and is a great day-to-day utilitarian truck.  Haul whatever you want with it, and get about 30 MPG while doing it.  Has AC that needs recharged, though all of the components work.  CD player functions well.  I have driven this vehicle for some time and enjoy it, though the top speed is a bit slow for the freeway (will hold about 70 MPH comfortably, but I wouldn't be comfortable with much more).  The individual who did the transplant on this vehicle took several years to do so, is a professional architect, and one of the most meticulous and thorough people I have ever met - the quality of his work is evident in the build up of this truck.  Please do feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange a drive beforehand.  Would be happy to email a video or any specific pictures upon request.  Thanks and happy bidding!

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.

GM recalls over 230,000 more Trailblazer-family SUVs over door electronics

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

Back in August, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall on the General Motors GMT360 SUVs (Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X) ranging from the 2005 to 2007 model years and the 2006 GMT370 SUVs (Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL) due to potential fires associated with the driver's door module. Initially limited to 250,000 units sold or registered in 20 Snow Belt states (and the District of Columbia), the recall has now been expanded to include an additional 193,000 of these SUVs in the US and, according to The Detroit News, 40,000 more sold outside the US, including Canada and Mexico.
Like the original recall, the issue is still a faulty driver's door module that can short out, which could lead to a fire. The Detroit News is reporting that, out of the 443,000 units being recalled, GM says that there were 58 fires that caused 11 minor injuries, and the expanded recall accounted for six fires and one injury. Despite the lower number of fires, the recall notice recommends that owners park their vehicles until the recall repairs has been performed.
On recalled units with functional modules, the repair consists of a protective coating being applied to the module, while vehicles with modules that are not working properly will have the driver's door module replaced. The official recall notice is posted below, and it includes contact information for customers of all five brands.
