You are bidding on a 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas XJ 4 door sedan. There is a reserve price. Local pick up preferred and I will ship to the United States only. You must make the arrangements. The winning bidder has 48 hrs to make a $200 deposit into my PayPal acct. and up to 7 days to complete the transaction. (Balance paid in full and title transferred. Possibility of transferring the classic plate to the buyer for a standard fee.) Here's a brief history about the car: My wife and I purchased the car 2 years ago with the intention of fixing it up as a "touring" vehicle for car shows, etc. So for the last 2 years it was mostly stored in our garage while I worked on it in my spare time. We did road test it a few times but only put about 30 miles on it. It has 166K miles on it but as you can see from the pics it still looks great! The major "P.I.T.A." job that I did was to replace the headliner! It turned out nice and matches the original. The rest of the interior is in fine condition showing normal wear. I purchased door weather seals but did not change them. I went over the entire car and found no serious wear or problems with the engine, transmission, brakes, exhaust, suspension and steering components except for the steering pump. The pump does not work after I dis-assembled it to replace the seal and gaskets. What I believe happened is I probably installed the pump impeller backwards, because the P/S worked prior to my work. I also replaced most of the power steering hoses, A/C hoses, A/C receiver/dryer, battery and serviced the transmission. That being said, this Jaguar needs someone to take over where I left off. It does run great, has lots of power and I have driven it recently the way it is, but it steers VERY hard. I suppose you could drive it home at your own risk but I would recommend towing it or moving it by trailer. The PA state inspection sticker is not current. It does have a "PA Classic Plate" which can be transferred to a PA buyer if needed. This car is being sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" and I will not warranty or guarantee anything except that you can start it up and drive it. Please refer to the condition description for additional info. This Jaguar E-Type is an even longer-legged feline
Tue, 12 Nov 2013Paul Branstad loves the shape and purity of the Series 1 Jaguar E-Type, produced from 1961 to 1968, but appreciates the longer length of the Series 3 V12 model, which affords occupants a more comfortable space in which to enjoy long trips. So when Branstad brought his damaged left-hand-drive 1968 roadster from its home in the US to Classic Motor Cars in the UK for a restoration, he had a special request: restore his car, but make it a bit longer.
"This is something that we have never done before. Our client wanted the interior leg room of a Series 3 V12 E-Type but the aesthetics of a Series 1 car," says Nick Goldthorp, managing director of CMC.
For the restoration, CMC added 4.5 inches of length to the floor pan of Branstad's E-Type to create the extra legroom. Goldthorp relates, "The V12 was actually nine inches longer than a Series 1 but a lot of the additional room was behind the seats as storage and was not required on our project." That's because CMC also built a trailer out of two E-Type rear ends that attaches to a custom-made removable tow hitch.
Jaguar F-Type Coupe patent images exposed, 4-cyl coming?
Fri, 03 May 2013Last year, Jaguar told us that "if you get a convertible right, it's easy to do a coupe" in reference to a coupe version of the Jaguar F-Type, and now we might be seeing our first unofficial look at a hardtop version of the convertible. The German publication Auto Motor und Sport has dug up what it is reporting to be patent images filed by Jaguar showing the lines of the new coupe.
If these are actually patent drawings, they have definitely been enhanced with color and shadowing compared to what we usually see from OEM patent filings. We wouldn't be surprised if they are just altered images of Jaguar's C-X16 Concept, but either way, it's going to be a sharp car. On top of the new coupe, the article also says that the F-Type could be getting the same 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is currently used in the Jaguar XF, as well as the Land Rover LR2 and Range Rover Evoque.

Fri, 02 Aug 2013If you're lucky enough to have a nice vehicle, do your fellow gearheads a favor and don't park like a clown. Seriously. Not only will you anger everyone who is trying to find a place to park, but your nice car is a billboard reinforcing the stereotype that car people are self-important and inconsiderate.
Take this gentleman for example. He has a Jaguar XK, and understandably wants to take care of it. Rather than parking it far, far away from any other cars and getting a bit of exercise by walking to his building, he takes up two spots (albeit barely) close to the structure. From the cameraman's narration, we can tell his coworkers are less than thrilled about his inability to stay between the lines.
Naturally, they wanted to teach him a lesson, so they parked a bigger vehicle as close to his driver's door as possible. Mr. XK's attempts to enter his vehicle are rather amusing, culminating in his climbing through the passenger side and scooching over to the driver's seat. While we can debate this sort of treatment all day long, it was effective. The video includes a follow up at the end showing where the XK driver parked the next day, and as you might guess, it wasn't in the same spot.
