1959 Jaguar XK150 Drop Head Coupe with black California license plates; 100% original factory metal; and 81,222 original miles. No rust ever. Numbers-matching car with rare Black/Red color combination, per Jaguar's Heritage Certificate. A completely original car that was stored indoors for 35 years and recently restored. Over the past year the entire car was disassembled and taken to metal, hand dollied and hand blocked, and painted with the finest base/clear paint. All body rubbers and seals are replaced new, new interior, new top. The undercarriage was taken to metal and sealed with epoxy primer and paint for 30 year rust protection (all factory spot welds are still visible). Owned by a famous U.S. Navy Seal and cowboy shooter named James Gordon, whose job in the early 1970's was to infiltrate nuclear-armed vessels and plant fake bombs: Only the Admiral of the U.S. Navy knew what vessel James Gordon would hit, and his penetration rate was 70%, often climbing up ship anchor chains in a frog suit like an American James Bond. Later in life James Gordon was the #1 competition cowboy shooter in the country, named "Yuma Jim." He bought this Jaguar in 1969 and drove it during his Seal career when he lived in Vallejo, CA. He stopped driving the car in the late 1970's and started restoring it, accumulating many of the parts we used to complete the project. A fine example of one of the most stylish cars every built. Jaguar Land Rover details JustDrive connectivity suite
Tue, 18 Nov 2014
JustDrive will allegedly deliver on the long-promised idea of natural communication between driver and car.
Jaguar Land Rover's all-new InControl system is set to get a big bump as the British company will add a new service called JustDrive, which expands on the smartphone-focused infotainment system by adding a singular voice controller for a wide array of the system's currently available apps.
Jaguar shows the face of its upcoming XE S sports sedan
Wed, 30 Jul 2014Jaguar has a bunch of projects in the hopper, from the replacements for the XJ sedan and XK coupe/convertible to its very first crossover. But arguably the most important among them is the XE - the British automaker's upcoming new sports sedan. Coventry has given us all sorts of peeks at what to expect from the new XE, from a shadowy rendering of the front end to a photo of a camo-wrapped prototype. But this is our best look yet.
As part of an announcement of a planned audio-visual spectacle scheduled to herald the arrival of the XE, Jaguar has released the image you see above, showing the undisguised XE in apparent S specification. From what we can see, it sports a fascia that looks pretty much exactly as we'd expect, though that's no bad thing. The XE is set to introduce the new Ingenium family of 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. Whether the XE S shown here would carry a version of that (with a potential supercharger) or transplant the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 from the F-Type S remains to be seen, but whatever's under the hood, we'd expect it to hold the top end of the XE range - at least for the car's introduction before a potential R, R-S or SVR version might come along to supplant it.
One way or another, don't be surprised if you see some BMW 3 Series sedans pacing down the street nervously for the next little while. In the meantime, you can scope out all the glorious details of Jaguar's planned collaborations with the likes of Emeli Sandé, Stella McCartney and Idris Elba as part of the FEEL XE campaign in the press release below.
Jay Leno's Garage drives Steve McQueen's 1956 Jaguar XKSS
Tue, 27 May 2014Steve McQueen might be the coolest American male of the 20th century. With movies like Bullitt and Le Mans, McQueen established himself as the king of cool of his era, and on the list of actors you would pick for a fantasy racing team - he or Paul Newman are the natural first choices. The latest Jay Leno's Garage video highlights one of McQueen's most special cars - a 1956 Jaguar XKSS.
Just 16 XKSS models were made because a fire at the Jaguar factory halted production. It was meant to be a street version of the company's very successful D-Type racer, with a modified version of its 3.4-liter straight-six-engine and a four-speed manual gearbox. McQueen clearly had an eye for great vehicles. He drove his Jag around Los Angeles years after it was a cutting-edge piece of technology. Since then, it became part of the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA. Autoblog's The List even took a ride in it when the show visited the museum.
The XKSS is one of the pinnacles of automotive design of the '50s, and its association with McQueen makes this example even more extraordinary. Leno is in love with the car from the moment he sees it, and it's hard to argue with him. Between its emphasized curves and raspy exhaust, this is one sexy Jag. Scroll down to get an eyeful and earful from one of McQueen's favorite cars.
