1955 - Jaguar Xk on 2040-cars
Commerce, Georgia, United States
This xk140 (Special Equipment) fixed head coupe, with the 3.4 litre twin overhead camshaft engine, is one of the few remaining examples of this magnificent sports car. Only 1,965 of the xk140fhc were built in Coventry between 1954 and 1957. I have spent over 20,000 to keep her fit and looking good. Mechanically, she is superb. The Good Engine, gearbox, and chassis numbers all match the body number as attested by the DJHT certificate. Oil pressure runs at 40-60psi under load. Drops to 20-30 when idling hot. Cylinder pressure good on all six cylinder Overdrive works beautifully. Carburetors recently overhauled. Stainless steel exhaust system. Suspension overhauled and working fine. Wheels, knock offs and tires and battery still like new. The not so Good There is a minor oil leak from the rear of the engine. The SU carburetors require occasional tuning and adjustment. The Moss gearbox with non-synchro first gear, takes some getting used to. The drum brakes and rack and pinion steering are not power assisted, and clutch pedal is firm, so one has to work at driving her in tight quarters. Body The Good Absolutely rust free.

2014 Jaguar XJL AWD 3.0
Wed, 25 Jun 2014A bit of British nobility floods the senses when piloting the 2014 Jaguar XJ. It's an emotional rush, a perception based on physical surroundings that influence the mind in much the same manner that a stein of pilsner tastes best when consumed in a German beer garden and no sand is softer than that found on a warm Caribbean beach. Jaguar has been assembling cars for nearly 100 years, and few automakers are as equally adept at capturing aristocracy and timelessness within the rich cabins of their luxury offerings.
Jaguar would have no concern if it were the only game in town, but that's far from the truth. The premium full-size luxury segment, which includes vehicles hovering just under or at the six-figure mark, is a contentious grouping that includes the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Porsche Panamera. Each of those brings its own game to the battle, and none are easy to dismiss.
To better understand the British perspective and evaluate its latest offering on a land without royalty, I recently spent a week with a long-wheelbase, all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ in Southern California.
Which is hotter, Lana Del Rey or the Jaguar F-Type?
Fri, 15 Feb 2013Lana Del Rey's "Burning Desire" video, the first musical collaboration between Jaguar and its hired songstress, is half music video, half long-form lifestyle commercial for the 2014 F-Type. If you like Del Rey channeling glamorous fifties fame as she lays down vocals of sensuous, languid dolor over images of black-and-white yesteryears, you'll like this song off of her new EP, Paradise.
We think the appearance of a red and brand-new Jaguar, though, is incongruous - either Del Rey or Jaguar is the anachronism, take your pic. That's not to say it's not beautiful, however, so enjoy the combination in the video below.
Jaguar to reveal small sedan at Paris show
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Small sedans are big business for luxury automakers. The C-Class is the top seller for Mercedes-Benz, much as the 3 Series is for BMW, but Jaguar has historically missed out on that market. Its last attempt, the X-Type, proved woefully inadequate, and Jaguar hasn't attempted to take on that market again since. But that's all about to change.
Coventry has been working on a new small Jaguar for some time now (using test mules like the one above wearing modified XF body panels), and according to the latest reports coming in from the UK, it will showcase the result of those efforts at the Paris Motor Show next October. The show car will take the form of a pre-production concept that is expected to preview the production version very closely before the final item is unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Tipped to be called XS (somewhat appropriately for the brand's smallest model), the new sedan is expected to be the first to use the company's new aluminum platform previewed by the C-X17. Expect styling to follow along similar lines to said crossover concept and the F-Type sportscar, with eventual sedan, wagon and coupe versions to round out the family.
