Up for bid is a VERY clean 1976 Jeep CJ7. First a little history on it. As everyone knows, Jeeps in northeast Ohio, were prone to rust. Sometime in the late 1980's the rust was getting the better of it. My dad decided it was time for a new fiberglass body. We went to 4WD hardware to purchase a new one. At that time 4WD had a Jeep they would use for promotions, it had a blown small block Chevy, all chromed out, etc. The former owner of 4WD hardware decided he wanted a new jeep for the showroom, and offered the candy painted body, frame, and chrome windshield frame to my dad. Of course he bought it, that is what you see here. Originally Dad's Jeep had a straight six, three speed manual transmission, manual steering, and brakes. After buying the custom painted body, Dad decided some upgrades were needed. Now the Jeep has power steering and brakes, Turbo 400 automatic transmission, tilt steering column, and a turbocharged Buick V6. At the time we installed it, it was fairly high tech. Dad is now in his 70's, and it is time to find the Jeep a new home. The Jeep has less than 11,000 miles on it since it was redone. Before anything was installed, (engine, transmission, axles, and transfer case) it was all professionally rebuilt. Thanks for looking.

Another crazy custom Jeep Wrangler spotted in Morocco
Sun, 03 Mar 2013What in the world is the vehicle you see above? Well, um... yeah. We have no idea. According to the video description from YouTube, however, it's a modified Jeep Wrangler, and it comes from the same person who created the equally insane side-by-side merged Wrangler you saw here.
We can clearly make out the Wrangler-shaped passenger compartment up top, but as for the other bits and pieces that make up this rather amazing machine, your guess is as good as ours. At the very least, it seems to us that the car's wheelbase has been given a significant stretch, and the grille may have come from an International LoneStar Harley-Davidson Special Edition semi truck.
What other components are sourced from the massive International hauler? No idea. We suggest you check out the video below and draw your own conclusions. Oh, and if you've got any other ideas, feel free to let us know in the Comments.
2014 Jeep Patriot and Compass ditch CVT for six-speed auto
Mon, 07 Jan 2013It was reported in Automotive News a few months ago, but a new report on Allpar.com adds some details to news that the 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot will get a six-speed automatic to replace the CVTs they currently use. According to a tip provided to Allpar, the 2014 models will begin production in March and be on sale sometime in the summer. The Jatco-sourced CVT in use until now - Jatco is owned by Nissan and Mitsubishi - has been often criticized, and many won't be sad to see it go.
The incoming six-speed automatic is said to be an all-wheel-drive cog-swapper that's the work of Hyundai and Magna and has been paired with the DynaMax AWD system used in the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage. It won't be the only Chrysler product using a transmission with ties to Hyundai: the six-speed automatic in the Dodge Dart comes from Powertech, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai. With the Patriot and Compass said to be driving down the trail for the last time this year, it will be a short run for the new tranny and the rumored addition of a backup camera and power rear liftgate on the Compass.
2014 Jeep Cherokee configurator up and running
Fri, 09 Aug 2013Production delays aside, Jeep is steaming towards its September on-sale date for the 2014 Cherokee. The reborn midsizer's configurator has just gone live, meaning you can fiddle with different options, colors and trim levels to your heart's content.
The cheapest model available is the 4X2 Sport, which starts at a reasonable $22,995. On the high end, the Cherokee's builder allowed us to indulge our passion for ludicrously priced vehicles by outfitting the top-end Trailhawk, which already starts at $29,495, with $8,610 in options. The resulting car, which you can see above, would retail for $39,100 after the $995 destination is factored in.
Head on over to Jeep's build-it-yourself website and have a look around.
