1969 Jeepster Commando Custom Built For Hard Core Rock Crawling on 2040-cars
Leeds, Utah, United States
Project "Terra Crawler"
Interior: Started with a perfectly straight, rust free California body and frame and built the ultimate trail riding vehicle from there. - Custom roll cage that is tied into the frame in multiple locations with clearance to use a factory hard top or Bestop Soft Top (which is comes with). - Mastercraft Baja RS heated front seats that mount to the cage, along with a Mastercraft Rubicon bench in the rear also mounted to the roll cage. - Entire interior was LineX coated for easy clean out. - Autometer gauges, weather proof toggle switches Sony marine speakers and amp, CB and Icon HAM radio, and custom aluminum panels round out the custom interior in the front. - Behind the rear seat, just above the 13 gal fuel cell is a rack that can be used for an ARB Fridge (not included) or tie down storage for bags and tools. - Dual fire extinguisher mounts just behind the driver and passenger. - LED interior Dome Light - Working heater with foot dump and windshield defroster vents Exterior: Starting from front to back. - Custom "Rust" paint job. Yes, this is not actual rust, it is a paint by BASF that uses a metal based primer and a rusting agent is sprayed on then it is matte clear coated over. It not only looks like rust, the texture and feel makes it feel like rust. - Custom EVO front bumper powder coated Matte Black which houses a Warn 10k air cooled winch and two LED spot lights from Trucklite. - TruckLite custom mounted headlights - Custom rock sliders 100% tied to the frame. - Custom Front tubular fenders - Custom Rear body armor, fenders and rear corner guards make out of 1/4" steel plate. Includes LED rear tail light by ORO and dual antenna mounts (CB and HAM radio) - PIAA rock lights mounted in tucked away position in frame rails - Bestop Soft Top in addition to a custom Spyder Webshade top Performance: - Chevy LQ9 Motor (Similar to the LS1 but with a steel block) Dyno tested at 283hp to the wheels and 317ft/lbs/torque - 4L60E Transmission hooked to a 3 speed Art Carr shifter - Atlas 4 speed Transfer case - Dynatrac ProRock 60 front & rear axles with pro series 40 spline shafts and Dynaloc hubs - 5:38 gearing - ARB Lockers Front & Rear with ARB compressor under the hood - JE Reel Drive Shafts - PSC Hydro Assist Steering - Custom built headers by Chappelle's Exhaust & Kustoms - DynoMax SuperTurbo Mufflers - K&N Filter - Optima Group 31 Battery (big RV battery) - Falken Race Spec (sticky) 39x17 Tires (with full size spare) - Poison Spyder Beadlock Wheels (full size spare) - Brand new Fox 2.0 Remote Res coil overs (16" front, 14" rear) We have owned this vehicle since 2008. Took a solid year to build it up before taking it out to play. The paint job started out in Black, which you can see from the images was featured in JP magazine, also taken on the Ultimate Adventure and a few other Moab and Rubicon events. It was an Army Green for a short period of time, then we went to the all rust that it is today. We love this vehicle and take good care of it mechanically, but that does not mean that we did not wheel it as it should be wheeled. It has been on its side a few times and rolled over once. Each time we sourced new body panels and parts and fixed back up as if we were taking it to a car show to win a trophy. The same mechanic that takes care of our race car takes care of this vehicle, which means after almost ever event we go to, we strip it down, clean it up and replace anything that did or could go wrong with it on our next trip. So all the heims, springs, shocks, drivetrain/driveline parts are in race ready condition. Exterior has a few trail marks on it, but nothing that does not make this vehicle the most looked at trail vehicle no matter where we take it from Moab to the Rubicon and everywhere in-between. The only reason we are considering selling it is to start a new project. This is by far the longest I have ever owned or kept a vehicle, and that is saying a lot as I have owned more vehicles in my life than I have had birthdays (and I'm almost 42). We are not in desperate needs to sell this, so please do not low ball me. If we end up keeping it, I'm fine with that. I believe there is a buyer out there that will appreciate all the hard work and design that has been put into this vehicle that will pay what is the right price for uniqueness as well as a trail rig that is just this side of unstoppable no matter what trail you point it at. Any questions, please feel free to ask. |

Jeep Wrangler Mojo and Cherokee Dakar teased ahead of Moab Easter Safari
Wed, 02 Apr 2014Jeep has an annual tradition of debuting wild, new concepts during its Easter Jeep Safari, and this year looks to be no different. The automaker has already confirmed two of the six vehicles for 2014 - the Cherokee Dakar (pictured above) and Wrangler Mojo. This year's event runs in Moab, Utah, from April 12-20.
There are no official details about either of the concepts yet - Jeep will release more info on the new models next week. Judging by the pictures, though, the Cherokee Dakar appears to be lifted with some knobby off-road tires. The Wrangler Mojo looks to have a bulging hood that might hide a more powerful engine underneath.
Past vehicles at the Easter Jeep Safari have included a Hemi V8-powered Wrangler, a classically inspired pickup and modernized Jeep Forward Control. Since this is the brand's chance to express itself every year, hopefully it has some more sensational concepts up its sleeve. Scroll down to read the little information that has been revealed about this year's models so far.
