For sale is a 1972 Jeepster Commando. I bought this Jeep from the family of deceased man here in town. The man that owned it bought it for the sole purpose of pulling it behind his camper when he went camping. The Commando was only used for vacations, and was parked in a carport the rest of the time. The man lost his health and was unable to go camping any longer. The Commando just sat at that point. The last time it was tagged was 2007. It was just sitting after that. I bought it a few weeks ago, and put a battery in it and it fired right up. The belt that runs the alternator and water pump broke, so I had it replaced. Other than that, this Commando is in the same condition as when I bought it. The Commando has been painted at some point in time, and still looks pretty good. The Commando is all original except the paint. There was also a new exhaust system ran at some point. Other than that, this Commando is ORIGINAL. It has ORIGINAL 55k miles on it. It has a nice set of tires, which seem to be in good shape. The Commando runs nice and quiet and very smooth. I can not believe how great it does run. The seats have some tears, the headliner is sagging, but other than that there's not too much wrong with it. It has a 304 V8 with auto trans, and 4x4. It has the factory A/C that still works. I have been researching these Commandos, and A/C seems to be a rare find. The only reason I bought it was that my wife thought it was "cute". I really would just like to sell it and get it out of the way. I have too many other vehicles in the driveway. If you want to know any more info, or want to see more pics, please feel free to call/text me at 704 813 3787, or email me davisjr01@gmail.com. You really have to see this Jeep in person to appreciate it. I also have the original owner's manual, repair guide, and some paperwork the family gave me for the Jeep.

Finding surfing spots in the UK is tough work, even in a Jeep

Sun, 06 Jul 2014

You truly have to love surfing to practice the sport in the United Kingdom. The area isn't exactly teeming with warm beaches full of sunbathers, and absolutely no easy spots to find big waves. To be a UK surfer, you need to be a fearless adventurer, not to mention quite lucky. And driving a Jeep might help, too.
Surfers Oli Adams and Micah Lester are traveling around the British Isles in a Jeep Wrangler Overland trying to find the best surf spots out there. These guys don't fit the laid-back surfer stereotype, but that's because finding waves in the UK is hard work. They say that the waves at some of these spots only exist for about three hours every year when the current and winds are just right.
To find these surf spots, the Jeep's offroad capabilities are paramount. In some areas, as you'll see in the video, there isn't even a beach, just jagged rocks. It would be like the movie Endless Summer, that is, if it could start snowing at any moment. These guys are clearly dedicated to their sport.

Jeep does Renegade Chinese-style with Zi You Xia design concept

Sat, 19 Apr 2014

As we mentioned, Jeep is bringing a quartet of concepts to the Beijing Motor Show this year. Its largest model, the Grand Cherokee, is nowhere to be found, but its smallest is. That, of course, would be the new Renegade, which has been done up as the Zi You Xia design concept.
Taking its name from the Mandarin word (or words) for "rebel," the Zi You Xia takes its inspiration from the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, with a Warm Chocolate Gray paintjob with contrasting dark bronze trim. The roof, grille and mirror caps are color-keyed to match the rest of the exterior, riding on 20-inch alloys in the same dark bronze finish.
Inside it's all Piano Black, Anodized Copper and brown leather with plaid fabric inserts. Scope it out in the high-res image gallery above and the press release below.

AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

After their rented 2007 Hummer H3 failed them during the brutal Rallye Aicha des Gazelles in Morocco, Amy Lerner and her sister Tricia Reina were on a quest to find the most capable production off-roader for their next competition - they chose a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Their next mission was to find a company with the competence to configure it to win. After poring over Internet forums and perusing countless magazines for an outfitter who could meet their demanding requirements, they sent their bright orange JK ("Crush" is the official color) to American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) for some modifications.
The Michigan-based team at AEV kept the Jeep's 3.6-liter V6 and automatic transmission stock, but replaced the hood with a tall AEV Heat Reduction Hood and added an AEV Snorkel Kit for water crossings (it serves double-duty as its raised height helps to keep the air intake out of the kicked-up dust on the trail). Front and rear off-road bumpers were bolted in place, and AEV skid plates were added to provide additional undercarriage protection. A pair of IPF-900 off-road lights improve visibility, while a 10.2-gallon AEV Fuel Caddy (located behind the exterior spare) added some range. The suspension was upgraded with a 3.5-inch lift kit with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and 35-inch Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (LT285/70R17) were mounted at all four corners on AEV's beadlock wheels.
