1985 Jeep Cj7 Renegade Sport Utility 2-door 4.2l on 2040-cars
Glen Burnie, Maryland, United States
Up for sale is my 1985 Jeep CJ-7 in great shape. It has the 258 I6 with an NV3550 5 spd manual transmission and twin-sticked Dana 300 transfer case, Scout II Dana 44 rear axle with disc brakes and Dana 30 front axle, both with 4:56 gears. Poly motor mounts. It has a shackle reversal system up front and tracks great. New 33" Cooper Discoverer STT tires on aluminum AR wheels. Front axle has the dana 44 hub conversion with the nice Warn lock-outs. The body is off of a Jeep YJ Wrangler and has been lined. Front and rear Warn bumpers. Front has 8000lb winch and rear has a swing away tire carrier. HEI Distributor and a motorcraft 2100 carb. Corbeau seats and harnesses. New radiator. 135 amp alternator. Optima battery. Lots of spare parts to go with it - starter, solenoid, front rotors and pads, u-joints, driveshafts, front axle shafts, bearings, mirrors, 2 bikini tops, older soft top, trail cover, seals.
Right rear axle seal has a slight leak. Emergency brakes are a little weak - I have a 4-disc proportioning valve brand new ready to install that should fix the problem. |

Gilles defends 2014 Jeep Cherokee design as "very contemporary"
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Following the forced-hand introduction of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, there has definitely been a mix of responses revolving around everything from its design to the return of the legendary nameplate. As evidence of this, just check out the 1,000+ comments in our article last week and some of the many opinions that were voiced. Following this not-too-warm reception, Ward's Auto had a chance to talk to Chrysler designer chief - and SRT president - Ralph Gilles, who shed a little more light on the styling direction of the new Cherokee.
Rather than looking to previous models for inspiration, Gilles says that the Cherokee has been designed to be more contemporary, with Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, adding that a main goal was to make sure the design still looks modern five years from now. Interestingly, Gilles does point out that one of the design elements incorporated on the new Cherokee that pays homage to past Jeeps is the sharply downward angle for the leading edge of the beltline, which he notes is meant to mimic the look of the old YJ and TJ Wrangler models fitted with half doors. Of course, the squared-off wheel openings - a signature Jeep cue - are still used.
This is probably a design that will need to be seen on the street in actual daylight to properly assess, but in the meantime, we'll bring you full images and impressions when the Cherokee debuts at next month's New York Auto Show.
2014 Jeep Cherokee: June 2014
Wed, 09 Jul 2014I got a text message from Editor-In-Chief Sharon Carty one afternoon proclaiming that her new favorite SUV is our long-term 2014 Jeep Cherokee. And she's not alone. I'm not sure if anyone else on staff would go so far as to use the "favorite" descriptor, but after just over a month of honeymooning with our new long-termer, it's safe to say that the Jeep is quickly finding its way into the good graces of a number of Autoblog staffers.
There's good reason for all that praise, too. Thus far, the Jeep has proven itself to be incredibly competent and comfortable for daily life - it's functional, quiet, and packed with a host of amenities that make it easy to live with. It's been wholly trouble-free (with less than 4,000 miles on the clock as of this writing, it ought to be), but even nitpicks have been few and far between.
Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]
Thu, 15 Aug 2013Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.
