Up for grabs is this freshly painted, freshly serviced and VERY clean 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.  This Jeep is in excellent shape and features brand new tires, a full tune up, fresh factory paint (body and all door jambs), and a very clean and stock looking interior.  Mechanically, this Grand Wagoneer just received a full tune-up that included all plugs, wires, air filter, oil change and all fluids topped off.

On the exterior, I had this Jeep painted in the factory correct burgundy color, and I also sourced a pair of hard to find factory-correct Jeep brand front fog lights (both work!).  On the interior, both power seats work, the radio functions, there are Jeep factory floor mats, the original owner's manual, and even the rear cargo cover!

The Jeep needs very little to be perfect, the passenger side mirror sometimes works, the rear window goes up and down with the key, and the AC should be converted to R134.  The CarFax on this Jeep is perfect!

There is very little, if any rust, and none on the body.  This Grand Wagoneer starts easily, drives very smoothly, and cruises at highway speeds with no problems.  It tracks straight and the brakes are tight.  It is in excellent driving condition and can easily serve as a daily driver.  Included in the sale is an original Jeep brand tow hitch.

Please feel free to contact me with any question or if you would like additional photos (or videos) of this Grand Wagoneer; my cell phone number is 615-300-6004.

I am a dealer in Nashville, TN; my focus is vintage SUV's.  I am happy to answer any questions and will accommodate any requests for test drives and/or mechanical inspections (at the buyer's expense).  I am also happy to connect all serious and earnest bidders with my mechanic (he performed the tune-up and has driven this vehicle).

I can also ship this vehicle easily to your location, delivered to your front door, for a lot less than you think (i.e. $400 to DC/Northern Virginia/Maryland, $700 to Los Angeles).

Please remember that a bid is a binding contact, so please ensure that all funds are present BEFORE bidding AND that you have the permission of your wife/husband/spouse/parent/child/pet/etc before purchasing.

I accept cash, personal checks, cashier check's, wire transfers (small fee applies) and credit cards (small fee applies) for payment.  This Jeep has a clean and clear title, and I will only release the title AFTER all funds have cleared.  I will include a thirty day temporary tag with the Jeep OR you can transfer your existing tag.  I will only collect sales tax for Tennessee residents.

Yes, I will take trade-ins (vehicles only, no motorcycles), but you must contact me directly.

Again, please feel free to ask any and all questions BEFORE the end of the auction.  I am happy to end the auction early, please contact me directly on 615-300-6004.

Thanks!

Chrysler axes old V6s, goes all-Pentastar

Tue, 03 Sep 2013

Old technology has a way of lingering on, particularly at Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills. So while the Pentastar V6 has replaced the older engine architecture in just about every application, it still soldiered on in some export markets. But the introduction of a new 3.0-liter Pentastar V6, produced in Michigan and meant only for the Chinese market, has put the final nail in the old engine's coffin.
Fitted into the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler just introduced to China at the Chengdu Motor Show, the downsized six uses the same architecture as the larger 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. But because of its 2,997cc capacity, it can be exported to China without the increased duty the 3.6-liter or even 3.2-liter Pentastar engines would incur. The 3.0-liter V6 develops 230 horsepower at 6,350 rpm and 210 pound-feet at 4,400 rpm.
Admittedly, it's unlikely, but even though the engine was said to be created solely to undercut tax thresholds in China and Europe, the 3.0-liter Pentastar has recently surfaced in rumors of an application here: as the boosted heart of a potential Cherokee SRT with anywhere from 375 to 410 hp.

Chrysler recalling 644k more Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs over brakes

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

Early last month, we reported on Chrysler issuing a preemptive, proactive recall for about 25,000 units of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. The issue revolved around a brake system that wasn't causing any actual problems, but delivered an unsatisfactory brake feel, so Auburn Hills called in a good 25,000 of SUVs around the world, including 18,700 in the United States.
Now Chrysler, having apparently determined that the brake problem on its sport utes is actually much bigger than it initially realized, has drastically broadened the scope of the recall. As a result, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for precisely 655,354 examples of the Grand Cherokee and Durango, covering the 2011 through 2014 model years. In addition, Chrysler is recalling 42,380 units in Canada, 21,376 in Mexico and 159,685 overseas.
The problem which Chrysler found revolves around the brake booster, whose center shell has been found to be subject to corrosion, allowing water to get into the brake system. That water in turn could freeze, preventing the brakes from working as well as expected.

Watch this R/C Jeep Wrangler plow snow

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

There's no denying the fact that the Jeep Wrangler is one tough and rugged vehicle, and there is apparently little lost when the SUV is shrunk down for a 1:10th scale radio-controlled version. Proving that the Axial SCX10 Jeep Wrangler is not your run-of-the-mill R/C car, YouTube user Andrew Dykiel posted a pair of videos showing it clear about an inch of snow from his sidewalk and driveway during a snow storm last month.
Starting at $379.99, the Axial SCX10 costs more than most budget snowblowers, but other than paying a neighbor kid to shovel your snow, this might be the best way for a car guy to clear snow without the need for hot chocolate and ibuprofen. Better yet, it's electric, so it's zero-emission answer to snow removal! Scroll down to see how this R/C Jeep can help "shovel" snow from the warmth of your sofa. We've also thrown in a bonus video showing the mini Jeep negotiating the Rubicon Trail.
