2007 Kia Optima EX four-cylinder. Over the past six years I've added 73,000 miles, mostly highway driving with some city driving. The furthest I have ever driven was once to Buffalo about three years ago  (2011) from Rockland County, NY.  Below I will provide a detailed description of the condition of the car, the features, ownership history and the shipping and payment requirements.

  1. Condition:
Overall the condition of the car is excellent. My father is a mechanic so I was always very much on top of keeping the car highly maintained. However the car does have 95,000 miles on it and as you will see in the photos section there are interior and exterior scratches, a small little exterior dent and some rips in the leather upholstery on the rear passenger side and the underneath side of the driver seat. The driver side airbag caution light is on. I have spoken with a Kia mechanic and they explained to me that I either need to replace the airbag or change a very inexpensive wire that is located underneath the driver side seat. Over the past 2 years the airbag light has been on, the car has still passed inspection. Please see the photo section for any of the listed discrepancies. NON-SMOKERS CAR.  People were not allowed to smoke in my car.

     2. Features:
  • Auto dimming Homelink (garage opener) rearview mirror
  • Three new tires under 10,000 miles
  • New rear brakes under 20,000 miles
  • New front brakes under 10,000
  • New rear shocks under 10,000 miles
  • Rear seats fold down for extra room in trunk
  • Car charger outlet for phone
  • Ashtray and lighter
     3. History:

I am the second owner. I bought this car used with 22,000 miles from the dealer Mahwah Ford and Kia in Mahwah New Jersey in November 2008.

Superman-themed Kia Optima Hybrid definitely not faster than a speeding bullet

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

The Justice League of America's garage is filling up quickly, with Kia and DC Entertainment unveiling its sixth of eight super hero-inspired vehicles at the Chicago Auto Show today. The vehicles are being used to raise awareness for DC Entertainment's "We Can Be Heroes" giving campaign.
The latest Kia to get the super hero treatment is the Optima Hybrid, which draws on the almighty Superman for inspiration. We're not sure what to make of this thing, honestly, as neither Clark Kent nor Kal-El would be caught dead in it (unless it's got the optional Kryptonite seatbelts, of course). Rather, this looks like what we imagine a Superman fanboy would construct if given carte blanche to ruin an Optima Hybrid. The actual design and construction were handled jointly by Kia, DC Entertainment and Super Street magazine.
We'll let the pictures do the talking in terms of what modifications were made since they're all cosmetic. That is, no mechanical mods were done to make the Kia Optima either faster than a speeding bullet or more powerful than a locomotive (shame).

Kia unveils Horki sub-brand in China, kicks off with concept car

Wed, 24 Apr 2013

While we were busy ogling new vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept, Maserati Ghibli and Hongqi L9 at the Shanghai Motor Show, Kia was busy unveiling an entire brand. Through its Chinese joint venture, Dongfeng Yueda Kia (or DYK), the South Korean automaker has introduced its new Horki sub-brand and a concept car, simply called the Horki Concept.
The name Horki comes from the combination of two Chinese characters "Hor" and "Ki," which translates to "China driving." As this suggests, the brand will only be offered in China, and this concept sedan shares its platform with the 2014 Kia Forte. We didn't happen to catch the car live at the auto show, and apparently neither did Kia, since it only provided us with some drawings rather than live (or even studio) shots of the actual concept car. Thankfully, our friends at Newspress managed to ferret it out, so we have a couple of live pics to share after all.

Kia calls reports of second US plant 'groundless'

Thu, 25 Apr 2013

In discussing how Kia planned to use a focus on quality to raise its brand perception and take the fight to BMW and Audi instead of Toyota, a recent article in Automotive News Europe said one of the primary constraints was production capacity; Kia simply doesn't have the ability to make enough cars to meet its aims with the plants it has.
The CEO of Hyundai-Kia is said to be reluctant to build more plants because of that focus on quality and the fact that its suppliers are stretched to the limit. The effects of that position are being felt right now with both makers losing market share, as in the case of Hyundai not being able to make enough of its Veloster Turbo for the US market.
A South Korean newspaper apparently reported last week that Kia was planning to build a second factory in Georgia with capacity for up to 150,000 units annually, and that the company would break ground as soon as this month on "KMMG2." Kia has responded to the news by saying, "The report is all groundless." The mayor of West Point, site of the current KMMG plant, said he didn't know anything about such plans, nor did the Georgia department of economic development have knowledge of a new Kia factory.
