Originally from the United Kingdom, for sale is this beautiful example of a fully restored Land Rover 110.

"Thurston" (yes, he has a name), originally began life on a hunting estate West of London, transporting the nobility from castle to field to partake in the activities that all well-to-do Englishmen do on a daily basis; polo, skeet shooting, and of course afternoon tea on the green.

Since then, Thurston took a steamer West to the New World and emigrated to Texas. He was a little dated and in desperate need of a new lease on life when he arrived, but now he is in better shape than when he left the factory in Solihull.

So, what's he had done?

Complete new paint - Classic green with the white roof (looks even better in person!)
Reupholstered entire interior
All door cards upholstered and look amazing
Brand new head liner
Carpeting throughout
sound and heat insulation panels added
All leaks, drips and seeps addressed - full mechanical health and wellness work done by the number 1 Land Rover Master Technician in Texas!
-new water pump
  -coolant flush
-all oils and fluids replaced
-new seals/door seals throughout the vehicle
-carbs tuned and balanced
-new windscreen
Under sealed the bottom with bed liner as a rust preventative - frame and bulkhead are in good shape
New wheels and tires
No stone left unturned and I would happily drive across country in him!

Drives like an absolute dream! The 3.5 V8 is very smooth all the way from idle to the top of the rev range.

I would absolutely encourage a test drive, or at the least a good look around for this one off restoration. Everywhere I drive him he turns heads and starts conversations.

Jaguar-Land Rover builds millionth vehicle at Halewood

Fri, 29 Nov 2013

Jaguar-Land Rover is not what you'd call a volume automaker by any stretch of the imagination. But in the dozen years since it started manufacturing at its Halewood plant near Liverpool, England, the automaker has already built its millionth vehicle.
The landmark vehicle is a Range Rover Evoque, done up in white with red roof and mirrors, black wheels and a red and black interior. The crossover is set to be donated to Cancer Research UK, which will auction it off next year to help fund its projects in the north-west of the country.
Halewood started manufacturing the Jaguar X-Type in 2001, then went on to assemble the Land Rover LR2 / Freelander 2 before taking on production of the Evoque a year and a half ago. The facility reached the 300,000-unit milestone just last year as production moved to a 24-hour cycle for the first time in either marque's history.

Jaguar Land Rover building new Special Vehicle Operations facility

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department.
Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires.
The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.

Is It An Off-Road Adventure Or Just A Walk In The Park?
I remember having to get out and lock hubs and shift into neutral to engage low range.
Coming off press previews of the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover and the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that involved some heavy-duty off-road rock climbing, I'm simply amazed at the capabilities that these vehicles possess. But even more impressive (or troubling depending on your perspective) is the relative ease with which you can operate these vehicles in seemingly impossible terrain.
