2003 Land Rover Discovery Se Sport Utility 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars

Garage kept 2003 Land Rover Discovery. Since new this has been a Disco that has been maintained in an extraordinary fashion by only two owners. The first owner has been an administrator at the Hershey Antique auto museum for the duration of the car’s in-service life. All schedule services from new have been documented in the vehicle's Land Rover service manual. The car has had careful attention to all usual trouble spots. For instance, the differential and transmission fluids have been changed before 60, before 90 and at 115k. New front drive shaft May 2014!! These are services ahead of schedule to keep the keep the drive line quiet, smooth and long lasting. The obvious issues are addressed as needed. The vehicle has of course had intake gasket service and does not drip or ooze coolant. The car does not use oil. The car receives frequent oil changes in the 3- 5 k range with lucas oil additives to keep the engine fresh and tight. The vehicle has never been in an accident. Recent upgrades in the last 4k miles, new steering pump. New Michelins. Pictures should show the spare tire to be new, never on the road and, the rim I do not believe has ever been mounted. The rims are in very, very nice condition. The rims do show the changing position of wheel weights, but the rims are not bent or gashed in any way. The leather is very, very nice. No known leather tears. There is a small snag in the rear trunk area on the back of a lower seat area. The only detractor in the car is a sagging roof liner over the passenger side door. This is common and you will find it in all Discos at this point in their life. The only real fix is to remove and recover(about 400.00) or replace (about 900.00) I bought the car in the fall of 2013 from the original owner as she had just inherited a BMW from her father. I have owned over 20 newer Rovers, from 2001 to current, but I did not have a Rover for the winter and this was daily driver. The vehicle was washed a minimum of twice a week over the rougher months and sometimes twice a day. When looking at the undercarriage, it is a testimony to the vehicles care. There is no significant rust. My last two Disco’s eventually needed some frame repair as they were not attended to by prior owners. This car is extra rust free, there is virtually no scaling under the car, it is just that clean. All service was done by Land Rover Harrisburg and by Trevor at British 4x4 in Elizabethtown, PA> Trevor will speak to anyone who might want an overall report on the car. The last oil change was done at Land Rover Harrisburg and the vehicle received a full green light(standard Land Rover check list done at any vehicle service) on all mechanical checks including front and rear brakes, tires and all other conditions. The body is ridiculously clean and any buyer will feel the car must have had some repaint to be this nice. Only the front left bumper cover was recently redone as I grazed an post while parking. The CD player is excellent as is the sound system. Many old Discos have cracking stereos and failed CD players, this car is top flight in performance. Lastly, around town I consistently pull at or just under 15mpg. Which, in the 6 discos I have owned, 4 from new, this is the best performing vehicle of the lot. Feel free to phone me 717-773-1711. The car is priced fairly. I have already declined 6k, thus low offers will not benefit a prospective buyer or myself. Best regards, Todd

These are the top luxury cars bought by people entering the segment for the first time

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Let's say you just got a big promotion at work or the kids are moving out of the house, and you finally have some extra money. You decide to blow it all at once and treat yourself by upgrading your ride. Naturally, you look to a luxury automaker. What do you choose?
Models like the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class may be tailor-made to introduce buyers to the premium segment, but a new study finds that they don't garner the highest rates of non-luxury customer conquests. It turns out that a Volvo leads among folks moving up to a premium brand, and it isn't even one that's made anymore, at that.
A recent study by Polk and IHS Automotive looked at what models had the highest rates of buyers upgrading from a non-luxury segment. The information comes from its new vehicle registration data through April 2014. All ten top models boasted conquest rates of over 50 percent, but the Volvo C70 led the field with 68.01 percent of its customers coming from non-premium brands.

Jaguar crossover won't be based on Evoque or have off-road chops

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

Jaguar's long-rumored crossover won't be built on the same platform as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, says the Australian site Car Advice. The future of the new CUV remains uncertain, but if Jaguar does dip its toes into the SUV/crossover pool, though, the new vehicle will likely be a car-based soft roader, lacking (or perhaps more appropriately, not needing) the off-road-engineered chops inherent in Land Rover's small CUV platform.
Jaguar product planner Steven De Ploey explained to Car Advice, "There's many groups around the world [platform sharing] - obviously Volkswagen Group is doing it all the time - but I think we have to be careful. He added, "Jaguar is something quite different... It's about capability, but very much on-road focused capability." That seems to gel with our suspicions that the XQ, as it's expected to be called, will share its platform with an upcoming small Jaguar sedan, the oft-rumored X-Type successor.
Still, we'd recommend taking any mention of a Jaguar crossover with a grain of salt. Based on many of the (quite compelling) statements made by De Ploey against a Jag crossover and previous statements made by Jag's design boss, Ian Callum, the case against a leaper-bearing crossover seems strong. If a high-rider were to arrive from Jaguar, though, the article insinuates that it'd be more in line with the BMW X6 or upcoming X4 - sort of a coupe-based crossover. Like we said, grain of salt. If a Jag crossover is going to arrive soon, the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show is the most likely locale for its debut. We'll find out in a few weeks.

Land Rover knows where you're going and how you want to get there

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Land Rover makes some of the most capable SUVs on or off the road, and some of the most luxurious too. But the British automaker isn't about to rest on those laurels - not when every other automaker assaults its territory with sport-utes of their own. That's why Land Rover has been working so hard on nifty new technologies from a depth-sounder in the door mirror of the Range Rover Sport an augmented-reality head-up display that makes the whole front of the car virtually disappear.
JLR's newest tech may not be ground-breaking, but its integration promises to make driving around town that much easier. The system syncs with the driver's smartphone and uses all manner of parameters - including driver habits, weather and location as well as the presence of other passengers - to make the commute go as smoothly as possible. Get into the car and it'll set the seat and mirrors for you. No big deal, because lots of cars do that. But it'll also set up the nav system to take you to work and the sound system to play your favorite music. Okay, getting more interesting.
Get in with your kids and it'll know not only that you've got to drop them off at school first (or remind you to pack their gym bag if they've got soccer practice after school that day) but that they might not enjoy that Chumbawamba album you've been listening to since college and it'll play something it knows you'll all enjoy based on your listening history. Then it'll switch back to Tubthumping once the kids are out, remind you of your morning meeting and alert those you're scheduled to meet with if you get stuck in traffic while finding you a better route to get there, monitoring fuel levels all the while and telling you if you'll need to tank up before you reach your destination. It knows if you like calling your mother on the drive to work and will lower the air suspension to make it easier to hop out once you get there.
