Looking for a good home for my 1994 Range Rover Classic LWB, 143,000 original miles. This truck has been my daily driver and I hate to part with her, as I had a lot of project plans. I got laid off from my job and now I'm moving out of state for work and I have to give her up. Pros: 4" Terrafirma Lift; Flowmaster exhaust/mid-cabin turn down; BF Goodrich T/A tires that have 85% tread; rebuilt transmission w/ approx 1 year left on warranty; radiator w/reconditioned core; new water pump; top end has been rebuilt; new heater core; new battery, no rust. Horn, brake lights, turn signals, head lamps and fog lights all work. Front wipers work. 4x4 works, differential smooth. Cons: AC and radio currently not working and interior needs TLC. Front Power seats don't work, was planning to take them out and replace with stock mechanical seats. Separate keys for doors and ignition, due to a mechanic breaking off the key inside the orignal ignition. Original Paint... so expect wear and tear for a 20 year old paint job, some bubbling of the clear coat on the hood and roof. I remember having to get out and lock hubs and shift into neutral to engage low range.
Coming off press previews of the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover and the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that involved some heavy-duty off-road rock climbing, I'm simply amazed at the capabilities that these vehicles possess. But even more impressive (or troubling depending on your perspective) is the relative ease with which you can operate these vehicles in seemingly impossible terrain.
Jaguar opens new engine plant in the UK
Thu, 30 Oct 2014The heads of Jaguar Land Rover are having a busy couple of weeks opening factories. Just days after inaugurating the company's first overseas plant in China, the automaker's new Engine Manufacturing Center in the UK is being inaugurated, as well. The plant near Wolverhampton, England, marks the first time in decades that JLR is building its own powerplants in-house. Further signaling the importance of this launch for the business, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were on hand and even tweeted about it.
The factory's first major project is to build JLR's latest Ingenium four-cylinders, starting with the 2.0-liter diesel version. "Our new Engine Manufacturing Centre is an important step in advancing the competitiveness and capability of the UK automotive sector. The production of in-house engines will support the expansion of the UK supply chain providing critical mass for inward investment," said Trevor Leeks, plant operations director in the automaker's announcement.
Opening the doors to the Engine Manufacturing Center has been years in the making for JLR. The plant was first announced in September 2011 and broke ground in June 2012. Building it cost the company 500 million pounds ($800 million) and created 1,400 new jobs. Of course, being a state-of-the-art factory, considerations were made to make the place as energy efficient as possible. That meant installing the UK's largest solar array with 21,000 panels to produce about 30 percent of the site's electricity needs.
Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."
