WE DON'T WANT TO SELL THIS CAR BUT THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT - WE JUST GOT IT

Here is the deal.  My mother just gave us this car so it has been woman owned its entire life.  We have had it 4 weeks and are realizing two things.  Our family is too big (we are going to go back to a newer Suburban type vehicle) and our young boys would destroy it if we kept it.  They are young and all boy.  This is the "TOP OF THE LINE" in luxury.  We are constantly saying, don't touch that, don't eat that, don't drop that, don't climb on the seats.   It is just that nice of a car and not fair to them.  Everything has been dealer maintained and looks like it just rolled off of the showroom floor.  There are two small door dings that will not photograph and one small scratch that won't photograph either.  There are two small stains in the cargo area from bleach and those are photographed.  The leather looks new, the carpet has had plastic covers over the mats protecting them and the fact that is has been garage kept has this car looking like new.  You keep hearing "don't expect this to look like new" from people selling used cars but this car, except for the stated, looks new.   The mileage is subject to change slightly as we are driving the car.  It has never been used to tow anything.

My mother had all of the fluids changed and serviced prior to giving it to us and put 4 new tires on it which now may have 1,000 miles on them.  She spent right at $1,000 before she gifted it to our family.  Everyone seems to try to put the bad in their listing so I will list the bad and mechanical issues first:

Problems/Issues:  NOTHING, AND I DO MEAN NOTHING

Features:
  • Leather Heated and Dual Power Seats
  • Third Row Seating
  • 4 Wheel Drive
  • Leveling Suspension with High/Low/Medim
  • ABS
  • New Tires
  • New Brakes
  • GPS, On Star, Navigation, Bluetooth, LCD Screen
  • DVD
  • 2nd Row Entertainment
  • Moon / Sun Roof (I don't know the difference)
  • Multi CD and Cassette Player
  • Extra Power Outlets
  • Premium Wheels
  • Premium Mark Levinson Sound
  • New Unopened Integrated Tool Kit
  • Dual Climate Control
  • Too Much to List
In all honesty, I find new things about this car daily.  In the past, I have owned Cadillacs and Lincolns, which are supposed to have the smoothest ride of all vehicles.  I can honestly say that I have never driven a car as nice or well equipped as this Lexus.  We would be open to a trades if someone wants to propose a trade.  We either want a Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon XL, Navigator L, Escalade L or Ford Excursion  with the 7.3L (NO GAS OR 6.0L ENGINES CONSIDERED ON THE EXCURSION).  A 4x4 (4WD) is a must have feature.  We can allow up to $12,000 in trade toward this vehicle.  Again, we are not a dealer and cannot charge taxes or can we get you a temporary tag if you come in from out of state.  We will be happy to help with shipping arrangements with your carrier but the cost and setup with a shipper is your responsibility.  You can see from our feedback that we are honest and I promise, this is the Lexus you want.  If you have specific questions, please try to send them through Ebay and I will try to respond as quickly as possible.  If you absolutely have to talk with me, you can call me at 403-3850 with an area code of six one five.  My name is Brad.  Happy bidding.

Toyota fills in details about its future design direction and global platform

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

"In the future, out of 100 customers, we want to excite ten of them instead of not offending all 100."
Almost all of the details about the Toyota New Group Architecture (TNGA) strategy have come out since the initiative was first reported on in March of this year, but Autoblog did learn a few new things about it on a recent trip to Japan. Probably the second-most important detail is that each new segment platform will be based around a common hip point to create an "optimal driving position architecture."

2014 Lexus IS 250 AWD F Sport

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

"Ooh, this looks fun!" my otherwise car-ignorant friend said as we walked up to the 2014 Lexus IS 250 F Sport. And yeah, it does look fun. In fact, despite my initial strong negative reaction to the design, I've really warmed up to this new IS, especially with the flashier F Sport package found on this test car (unique front fascia, 18-inch dark alloy wheels and appropriate badging). Even though that rear end still looks a bit Droopy Dog to me (stop frowning, Lexus), the IS is sharp, though I'm not entirely sure that such a bold design will age well.
"Looks can be deceiving," I told my friend, and we hit the road... slowly. You see, despite looking like a fresh, modern sport sedan, the IS 250 still uses what is, quite frankly, a dog of an engine. And that, combined with dynamics that are just so-so at best, makes for a sedan that's all show and no go. Say hello to Jennifer Slowpez.

Toyota settles first wrongful death suit related to unintended acceleration

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Toyota's sales seem to have rebounded from the unintended acceleration issues from 2009 and 2010, but the automaker is far from done dealing with this situation. Following a settlement worth up to $1.4 billion for economic loss to affected vehicle owners, Toyota has settled rather than going to trial in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from an accident in Utah in 2010 that left two passengers dead. This isn't the first case in which Toyota has settled, but it was the first among a consolidated group of cases being held in Santa Ana, CA.
According to The Detroit News, this case was scheduled to take place next month, and it was for a November 2010 incident in which Paul Van Alfen and Charlene James Lloyd were killed in a Camry when, based on findings by the Utah Highway Patrol, the accelerator got stuck causing the car to speed out of control and hit a wall; the terms of the settlement were not announced.
The article says that while Toyota will settle on some cases, it doesn't plan on settling on all of them as it still wants to be able to "defend [its] product at trial." This will probably be the case in suits claiming that software for the drive-by-wire accelerator was the cause of an accident in a Toyota or Lexus vehicle. The question of whether or not the electronic accelerator played any role in this problem has been a hot-button topic since the beginning. Toyota has issued recalls in the past to attempt to prevent unintended acceleration caused by trapped floor mats and faulty accelerator pedals, but it also says driver error was to blame in some instances.
