1958 Lincoln Contintental Convertible

New for the Lincoln Continental in 1958 was a 430 cu. in. 400 hp V8 engine accompanied with a turbo-drive transmission.  The main bones of the Continental body features an all steel body with welded double panel doors.  Inside features many luxury conveniences all available at the touch of a button.  Including a retractable rear window that slides out of sight with just a flick of the switch to give an open car ventilation.  The exterior is polished with baked enamel with 3 primer coats and 2 finish coats to give it the ultimate sheen.

This automobile was owned by a local collector and now needs a new home!

This car has been in storage for the last couple of years, prior to that it had extensive mechanical maintenance performed at a local repair shop in excess of $1000.  In addition, a new power top pump was installed at the Ford Dealer.

The overall condition of the car is good and as follows:

*The engine starts and runs very good, engine compartment nice.

*The transmission goes into forward and reverse but NOT road tested.

*There are minor fluid leaks which could be the result of storage/non-use.

*The body metal is in very good condition.

*The paint is somewhat oxidized but very serviceable.

*The glass is all good.

*The convertible top is very nice.

*The interior is the weakest point and needs upholstery and carpet.

*Miscellaneous repairs are surely needed.

*Included is a 1958 Continental Service Manual as pictured.

Overall I would rate this car a 7 out of 10, but, I encourage an inspection be done for your own peace of mind.  Please contact me to arrange a viewing.  Please review all pictures and information and contact me with any additional questions.  As I am sure everyone will understand, this car is sold AS-IS.

Lincoln to adopt Mini-like personalization strategy?

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

There's no single silver bullet that will cure all that ails the Lincoln brand, and Ford knows that just as surely as we do. Coming out with exciting new models like the well-received MKC crossover counts as several steps in the right direction, assuming of course that the production version is as appealing as the concept just shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, but more is needed. According to Jim Farley, executive vice president of Lincoln, one more trick may be "mass customization."
Put another way, Lincoln is considering ways to allow buyers to customize their new vehicles right off the showroom floor, similar to how things are done at Mini, and, to a lesser extent, Scion, where Farley previously served as corporate manager. Imagine, for instance, ordering a new MKC with a large Lincoln insignia embossed into the leather seatbacks, according to Automotive News.
While we're not so sure anybody is all that interested in paying extra for more Lincoln logos, it's a strategy that has proven rather fruitful at Mini. Only time will tell if Ford's erstwhile luxury division will once again be seen as something truly worth reaching for, and if customers are willing to pay a further premium for customization.

Lincoln, GMC clean up in AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

In recent years, there have been a lot of dire pronouncements made about Lincoln's future, or a lack thereof. But Ford's premium marque is like the Rocky Balboa of the auto business; every time the company seems ready to go, it comes back for more. Apparently, that dogged persistence is paying off, because the industry analysts at AutoPacific have put a big check in their win column with their newly released 2014 model year vehicle satisfaction survey. And despite recent enmity for its seemingly never-ending recall saga, it appears General Motors knows how to satisfy new owners, too.
In fact, not only was Lincoln named as the premium brand with the highest new owner satisfaction, even scored three models on the list of passenger cars with the most gratified buyers - the MKS, MKZ and MKZ Hybrid.
GM's stable of brands was also among the top companies in this year's survey. GMC was named the top popular brand by AutoPacific, with its Sierra pickup and Acadia crossover singled out for awards in their segments. Chevrolet also did incredibly well, with more cars on the list than any other brand. The Corvette, Camaro, Sonic and Impala all made the cut in their respective categories.

Matthew McConaughey dusts off his Lincoln Lawyer jacket [w/videos]

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Alright, alright, alright. Easygoing Texan Matthew McConaughey has enjoyed a career renaissance recently with critically acclaimed roles in Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective, and the actor has just signed a multi-year deal with Lincoln to become the luxury brand's spokesperson. The first ads starring McConaughey should hit televisions and the internet soon.
McConaughey's campaign has his pitching starting out with the company's pivotal new 2015 Lincoln MKC compact crossover. "Lincoln is an iconic, American brand and I like where they are heading with their transformation," he said in the announcement of the deal. The appears to be really throwing some money into these ads, too. Not only has it hired A-list talent in front of the camera, Nicolas Winding Refn, best known for Drive, is directing the spots.
Of course, this won't be McConaughey's first noteworthy ride in a Lincoln. Back in 2011, he starred in The Lincoln Lawyer, a legal thriller about at attorney would did business out of a 1980s Town Car. The MKC should certainly prove to be a much better driver than that.
