Hello I am selling my 99 lincoln town car with soft top. It runs well  and very comfortable but the ac  compressor went out (I have replacement and can include it with buy it now) as soon as that happened I noticed a strange sound coming. At first I thought the valves needed to be adjusted but then found out that these cars are equipped with hydrolic lash and does not need to be adjusted(according to autozone), besides the noise the car still runs smooth and no check light. When I noticed this 2 weeks ago I stopped driving it and registered it as non op,other than that it runs great for a car having 400,000 miles. Reason it ran so long besides the great design of the 4.6 engine is that it was regularly maintained (spark plugs engine oil/ tranny oil change, coolant etc..) and used to be part of a limousine service. I would like to track down the noise  and install the ac compressor myself but I do not have the time as I have 2 other vehicles that need my attention. Car will still run and drive but I would suggest  tracking down where  the noise is coming from before it can be determined reliable.

More detailed picture/info available please call me at 925 726 7564 for any more questions or concerns. Because ebay charges an arm and a leg to list and sell vehicles I prefer to complete the transaction outside of ebay if you choose to do so as well  I will deduct  40.00 from purchase price.I am also listing this car on Craigslist so I reserve the right to remove listing at anytime. THANKS FOR LOOKING

Ford's Galhotra succeeds Farley as head of Lincoln

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Ford Motor Company is announcing a major personnel shakeup that could have a dramatic effect on the future of the Lincoln division. Kumar Galhotra (pictured above), currently vice president of engineering at Ford for all of its vehicles worldwide, is taking over as the president of the luxury brand on September 1, replacing Jim Farley. The automaker is also hiring a new head of advanced engineering.
Galhotra has a huge job ahead of him as the new boss of Lincoln worldwide, overseeing product development, marketing, sales and service. His task is to turn the luxury division into a world-class brand as quickly as possible, and he reports directly to Ford President and CEO Mark Fields.
"These changes underscore our commitment to build on the success of our One Ford plan by accelerating our pace of progress. They also make clear we are serious about Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand and that product excellence and innovation are what will deliver growth and define our entire company going forward," said Fields in the company's announcement.

How the demise of Lincoln's Town Car has kick-started a limo revolution

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.
