Pampered 2006 Lotus Elise. No stories or funny Georgia title! If youre looking you already know the basic facts about the Elise; under 2,000 lbs, ultra responsive steering, brakes, road feel and grip. Also its not for everyone. That said this low mileage car has the following going for it: Factory optional 7 spoke forged alloy rims (forged and wider than 8 spoke in front), Yokohama Lotus spec tires with 90% tread left, removable hardtop (they go for $1,500+ used if available), optional storm titanium metallic paint, aftermarket Exige scoops and oversize alloy sump. The pic of the Bilstein coilovers (sport spec) in the front wheel well shows the condition of those parts of the car not normally seen. Notice the aluminum is CLEAN and the wheel well liners are perfect. They have been cleaned with Mothers restorer and finish treatment. That is typical of the overall condition of this car. Aluminum belly pan is without scratches or gouges. NOT perfect but very very nice. YES, there are some flaws. 3/4 long repair in drivers seat if you look hard, several imperfections in the paint. One looks like a spot less than 1/4 in diameter.The front is perfect where they normally eat the pavement under the nose. Had it restored when I got it. Comes with two sets of key/alarm fobs. Overall one of the very best of the best year made. The 2006 has the latest throttle by wire, LED lights, various upgrades WITHOUT the Federal crash bumper weight added front and rear of later editions. On request additional pics can be taken. Lotus Evora 'Sports Racer' is oddly named and fully loaded
Thu, 20 Dec 2012Lotus has just announced a new Evora 'Sports Racer' model that is, well, frankly not much more sporty or racy than the standard Evora or Evora S. Instead, the British company calls the Sports Racer a "visually enhanced and optimized version" of both the Evora and supercharged Evora S. To unpack that a little: The new trim will get a new set of unique exterior colors and a revised interior treatment, and it's fully decked out with options.
The 'Sports Racer' will be available in the buyer's choice of Carbon Grey, Nightfall Blue and the Ardent Red that you see in the image above (the only image we've seen of the car so far). Gloss black accents set the model apart and can be seen on the roof, forged wheels, mirrors and rear badges. Inside, one may choose between black-leather sports seats with red piping and stitching, or a Venom Red leather interior with black piping and stitching. How naughty.
In terms of tech, the 'Sports Racer' gets Lotus' Sports Pack and its remapped throttle response, higher redline, more powerful cross-drilled brakes and a more aggressively programmed Dynamic Performance Management system. The stereo system is also upgraded from the basic Evora, with a DVD player and seven-inch touchscreen display thrown in for good measure.
Kimi Raikkonen to miss rest of season for back surgery
Sun, 10 Nov 2013Formula One drivers keep themselves in peak physical condition, such are the demands placed on them in order to do what they do. But otherworldly as their capabilities may be, they're still human, and that means they get injured or sick just like the rest of us.
Case in point: Kimi Raikkonen and the announcement made today by Lotus that he'll have to sit out the rest of the season in order to undergo back surgery. That means Lotus will have to find a replacement driver for the last two races in Austin and Brazil while Kimi has and recovers from the operation.
Though we wouldn't debate the legitimacy of Kimi's condition or the necessity to rectify it, the timing is sure to raise some eyebrows. Raikkonen has been at the center of a pay dispute with Lotus, and while the situation was reportedly resolved, his decision to undergo what is said to be elective surgery at this point in the season (as opposed to waiting until its end) raises some questions as to his commitment to the team he is leaving and his team's financial commitments to him in turn.
NHTSA investigating Lotus Elise for oil leaks
Mon, 25 Jul 2011The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 17 complaints about an errant oil line in the Lotus Elise, and thus, has opened an investigation. The issue concerns the line on the front right cooler, which, having got loose, sprays oil either on the wheel or inside the engine bay.
This investigation pertains to around 4,400 of the little track-day wonders sold in the 2005 and 2006 model years. There have been no injuries, but one car did leave the road and catch on fire. A NHTSA investigation doesn't mean a full recall has been issued, just that your friends in the fed are looking into the matter.
