This extremely rare MG-TA Tickford is one of only 37 built in 1939.  It is estimated that less than 150 examples survive today. The Tickford Coupe body was custom built by Salmons and Sons Ltd. of Newport Pagnell which later became a part of Aston Martin Lagonda. The Tickford model is distinguished from the more common "T" seties MG's by sporting fixed windshield posts with fold out windscreen, full doors with real roll up windows rather than side curtains. a three position "Landau Bar" top which could be folded all the way down, partly open to form a sun roof, or completely closed.  The interior was much upgraded from the common TA or TB. More expensive materials were employed as well as a solid Walnut facia and door caps.  Motoring in the Tickford was refined and weather tight.  Something unusual for a T Series.  Open air motoring was accomplished in moments and at the first hint of an English drizzle the stately Tickford could be made secure equally as quickly. This example also sports the optional dual spare mounted tires, custom luggage rack, spare bulb carrier, and amazingly a full compliment of original tools nestled in the engine bay tool box. We are unable to drive this car anywhere without nearly everyone giving the thumbs up, waves, and huge smiles. Whenever we stop people crowd to see her and to ask all about her. This is one of those few cars which makes people happy. Our Tckford underwent a complete restoration in England ten years ago. She is sound and a great driver. She shows well and has the right kind of patina. Absolutely nothing is needed but an adoring family to acquire her. There is one small issue that is typical to the TA.  First gear is non-syncronized and is a little temperamental. It is one of those things you get use to and forget about once you have driven the car a bit. I would think you would be hard pressed to find another example in this condition and ready to go for all the Summer events.  Bid with confidence. when will you ever seen another.  Please call with any questions. Sports car trades are possible. Thank you for viewing our listing.  Paul 609-744-2813   The car is sold in as is condition with no warranty expressed or implied.  We reserve the right to end this auction if we receive an acceptable offer.
